Motherwell striker Scott McDonald has declared his desire to play senior international football with Scotland rather than Australia.

"To be honest, although I was born in Australia, I'm Scottish through and through," McDonald declared.

Words I'm sure he will regret.

Where the hell did that come from?!

This is a lad who has been in every Australian representative side shy of the Socceroos - has captained the U20s - and still clearly has a bright future in the green and gold after a solid year in the SPL, but then he comes out and says something ridiculous like that.

He should have had a chat to John Aloisi and Jamie McMaster before making such a suicidal statement.

He is not an out-and-out striker and has normally struggled in that role. He far prefers to play behind the front two and he is not good enough to warrant changing the formation to accomodate him.

Bit of a shock to see him going well in Scotland in truth. His loans at Bournemouth and Huddersfield were flops. After Saints cut him I think he had trials at Milton Keynes and Brentford and they cut him lose. Even Motherwell only signed him on a short-term deal initially.

How can these players look at themselves in the mirror?

Tony Dorigo, Jamie McMaster, Joe Didliuca, and now McDonald and apparantly Eddy Bosnar.

Wheres the pride in the coat of Arms?

:(

what frank should have done is picked him for the socceroos match and given him a late run in the game if we were comfortably in front (3-0 ish), therefore he would be tied with us.

Hes not in our best XI at the moemnt, and i hope Aloisi and V Bomber start up frotn but id take him of Zdrillic and Vieri on current form.

Also the fact that hes scored 6 goals this season and is only early 20's is very promising, this guy could lead the striekforce for Australia in the coming years if he puts his mind to it and continues to improve

Scott McDonald is no big loss.

Isn't a genuine striker.

Archie Thompson shi1ts all over him

Bring back Archie!!!
