There was this story about how there was this big photo/wallpaper thing of Saints players running out on the ground hanging up at Linen House. The players came in one day to find the numbers on the back of Goddard and Dal had been changed/removed, they apparently worked out it was Watters and when asked about it he said they didn't deserve to be up there as they had left the club so he drew over their numbers with a marker...

What a weird unit, who thinks of doing something like that??? Especially the senior coach?

I heard they eye posters from the GF and he ripped them down because he equated it to accepting mediocrity.

Sounds like a real Malthouse thing to do, without knowing him. So emotive, must have been a real pain in the arse to get 'taught' by someone so unstable.

FWIW I was in Broome once, Spermott was there at this brewery I was at, doing Getaway. There was a bunch of us there on a footy trip and he wanted us to behave while they were doing a pan around the beer garden. Started talking to me asked who I followed - when I mentioned st.kilda he became noticeably campaignery to the point of almost snarling and said "they ****ed up getting rid of scotty, one of my best mates and a great football brain!"..

Dermie was Watters very good friends. He really denigrated the Saints for over a year

Just imagine those two hammers chatting away and bagging the level of professionalism at the club, chortling to themselves.

If Dermi thinks that Watters was a great football brain, essentially we had Dermott-Lite coaching our club. Just let that sink in: A version of Dermott - just as much of a flog, just as much disrespect for the club, but even Dermott knows himself well enough not to get involved in coaching so Watters is even less self aware, or even more arrogant than this man:

No wonder the whole thing went up in flames. We're lucky we survived when you think about it.
