Could be another player to consider in the PSD if contractual negotiations break down with the Crows. The news is Welsh wanted various incentives attached to the 12 month contract which (if reached) would guarantee him a 2nd year at West Lakes. Adelaide is offering 12 months only. The 28yo is the 3rd highest all time Crows goalkicker booting a career high 49 goals in '07. His accolades include leading goalkicker for the Crows on four occasions averaging 2 goals per match. In what appears to be a weak PSD, the 'dead accurate' forward could be a handy pick-up!

Hes the most appealing in the PSD, I think. If contract neg's do fall through then yes, grab him!

Hes really a flanker, a bit like Petts and thats where he should be played. Adelaide haven't had much of an option and played him as a key position player.

Not sure about Welsh....as rfc said more of a flanker than an out and out power forward. We could do a lot worse, but seems like another stop-gap measure like Kingsley.

We aren't exactly devoid of forward options. I'd prefer to see us pick up some like Pfeiffer than someone like Welsh but that's just me.

Collard is the most appealing in the PSD.

Get him right and you have a potential champ.

Essendon have the same challenge with his mate Jetta.

I would take a risk on Collard over reject gap fill kind of players that are not going to be there next time you are pushing for a top 4 position.

Hes a good player and can play tall for his hieght

Only thing is, hes TOO OLD!

As a few have said I would prefer we develop Edwards or Conners as a flanker in the position before we move em into the guts!

Welsh when at the Kangaroos left due to homesickness didnt he? so why would you take the punt on taking the bloke and then risking him wanting to return again?

At the end of the day you guys have plenty of people to play the position that Welsh does, however at Adelaide he plays as a tallish marking forward and gets 1st or 2nd defender... at Richmond he would be third or 4th behind Richo, Pettifer and Brown.

He's probably only got 2 more years in him so homesickness wouldn't be a problem, but the rest of what you said is right. And we should only be looking at players under 25.

I dont know, he could be good but then do we really need another person down forward? Plus he's turning 29 in December, so really, age is another factor. I think we are best to get players 25 and under because then they have atleast 5 or so years to offer us something.

welsh if fit would be great for another avenue to goal
and would hopefully make it harder for schulz to get a gig

Yeah go there. He's a very frustrating player for the opposition. 4 kicks 4 goals.

What do you mean? He's a dead eye dick. If the ball's in his hands inside 50, you can almost guarantee a goal.

Yeah but he's like your 5 year nephew. You have to walk over to him, hand him the ball, ruffle his hair and point him where to kick. Ok once he has got it sure ... getting it is the dilema.

Let's spend next year rotating Hughes, Reiwoldt, Schulz, Pattison and Polak through the forward line to see if any of them are worth building on.

The Kingsley - Bowden period is over. We bought our insurance to give them another year. Time to suck it and see.

I agree with Weaver...

I think Patto will be given a shot at CHF first and hopefully he can make it his own. Hughes & Riewoldt will be given shots too.

Schulz = FF
