When the heat is on this man comes to the kitchen, seen in the last couple of years with the close games against carlton and port and again last week against the Roos. Often overlooked as he is quiet archiver and likes to be shadowed by Bucks, but as his career is comming to an end i think its the right time to look back and remember the fantastic service this Collingwood legend has given us. Really enjoys playing the eagles as well so watch out for him on the weekend.

great compilation.. Scott Burns in by far my favourite player at the club, he just embodies the spirit that footy should be played with.

wouldn't it be lovely if our whole team showed the desire and courage thet Burnsy shows week in and week out.

what a legend

Thats a great clip.........definately an underated player over the course of his career. I guess he played on ordinary teams early in his career and didn't get his dues. Perhaps when success came Collingwood's way he was overshadowed by Bucks and Licuria.

At his best he was just below the best midfielders in the AFL, quality second tier......hard as nails, great reader of the ball. Maybe just didn't have the engine to play purely as a midfielder.

I think he is one of the few magpies that is universally respected by opposition players and fans alike.

Actually, besides Jimmy Clement....I can't think of too many pies players of the past thirty years that have been.

We'd all love to see a Lonie play like Burnsy but look at the body on Burns, he's got the density to back it up

Nicely done. Inspirational Scott Burns. Is it just me, or has Scott Burns never missed a shot on goal... ever? Especially from outside 50!

Actually I'd be interested in other peoples opinions. Mick Malthouse has definately shown a lot of loyalty and patience towards Paul Licuria which I don't think was afforded Scott.

Does anyone have a theory behind this. Two years ago it looked pretty grim for Scotty...like the curtain would be drawn on him with the emergence of Brodie and O'Bree. It always looked like Scotty would be the one to make way for the first kid with leg speed that came along.

But I think last year Burnsy proved there is more quality football left, if not a lot. In fact, with Bucks going forward permanently (when he comes back), Brodie being out for another month and the seemingly reduced midfield role for Licca.....Burnsy may very well find himself a lot more minutes in the engine room. I hope certainly hope so as I think we a re a better team with him in the middle.

Thoughts?

Cheers, Favourties!

Scott Burns... what can I say! A club champion and one of the best players I've seen at Collingwood. The great man, Nathan Buckley, said had he went elsewhere, Scott Burns would have captained the club instead. He's got a great football brain so keep an eye out for him post-retirement, he is the sort of person who might become a good coach.

Not in a highlight reel at least!!!! :thumbsu:

That mark he took running back with the flight of the ball against Port Adelaide in the clip.......I think about a minute later he misses a crucial shot from close range that almost cost us the game.

Mind you....I have a terrible memory for these things.

Does anyone remember the game Burns had one Queens Birthday game (I think). He kicked 4 in the first quarter and had a hand in two others (may have been first half). I remeber thinking it was one of the best quarters/halves of football a midfielder had ever put together in my time.

Just gonna ignore that comment so i can bask in the warm glow of all things Scott Burns!

Fair enough too.

Actually...when he copped all the Sh1t for hitting the post, I actually thought he should have been given props for the mark running with the flight of the ball that kept the ball in our forward line to begin with.

Everyone talks about winning a Premiership for Buckley, but I dont think we owe it to anyone else more then this man.

I hope he can lift a Premiership above his head before he retires, not for us, the fans, not for the Collingwood FC, but for Scott Burns because of what he has given to this great club.

Absolutely Love Burnsy. While he may not be regarded as a super star, I can think of very few games where he has been beaten by his opponent no matter who it is. I remember him in his 2nd year thrashing Greg Williams and have loved him ever since.

Very underated, while Bucks has without a doubt been our best player in the last decade, I have always thought Burns has been equally important given he gets the ball out of the middle and uses it as equally well as Bucks.

Great video footage absolutely love and deserving for the magpie legend.

Put this on the AFL board and show all these people that they need to give him the respect he derserves.

He is without doubt up the with bucks, daicos, shaw, millane & Brown. No doubt about that, absolute GUN!!!

Fantastic clip. Thank god I was cutting onions at the same time I was watching it so I have an excuse for crying. He is Collingwoods Jebbidiah Springfield. He embiggins the Collingwood spirit. Guy richards is our Ralph Wiggum.:thumbsu:
