Mate any game where someone in your group can 'accidentally' get shot, then you craft a chest to put all his stuff in so it doesn't despawn as well as leaving his own head in the chest for him before butchering him down into streaks for a tasty meal any game where your can do all that is a good game :p

It's not rocket surgery I exclusively eat small skewers 3 meat and 1 fat with the occasional mushroom thrown in and i'm sitting on a cal balance of 42k :P

Just make sure you cook it first and dont sprint everywhere

Gave this ago for 5 minutes last night without looking at any guides, naturally did pox. Was surprised the graphics were decent and held up (need to change my CPU fan though), this is more of your 7 days to die/minecraft type deal rather than anything resembling a battle royale game is it?

My CPU fans are noisy with this too as I still haven't swapped the 1600rpm fans back in. It's currently a CPU hog though. Combination of Unreal Engine 4 and clearly not optimised that well due being early access still.

I'm guessing that was you that added me to stream.
It's a survival game with not much content are the moment you can spend game points to get teleported to a team death match type thing but i haven't tried that yet might give it a crack tonight.

At 1440p 60s on epic, about 80 on high and about a constant 75 degrees on my CPU regardless so I settled back with the epic. I’m assuming at this early stage most of the graphics options are just turning on and off post processing effects in UE4 and we’ll have to wait for them to actually start scripting in performance tweaks. Not sure dropping the resolution will improve huge amounts. The occlusion and mipmapping is rough as guts at the moment.

Yeah dropping res in pubg does sweet FA and using my screen at a not native res makes it look shocking so I'll just have to suck it up...
 

Good video some great insite into the machinations of a small indie developer and also of the UE4 engine which is shared by Fortnite and PUBG. Some great info of server loads too.

Wow they have a lot of content planned. Cars, base building and fortification. New weapons, weak spots on mechs, friendly NPCs, medic skills, more animals and the possibility of taking animals as companions and much more stuff I can't rememder.

Flicked through to pick up the parts about UE4 as game dev probably equals my interest in playing games these days and they seem to be running into the same walls as everyone else who are using a licensed engine like UE4, Unity or even CryEngine. It's not always so easy so I love to watch videos or read about these sorts of things. They don't have the luxury of time and money to create their own engine so they can't implement features how they want to work out of the box. I think one of the biggest issues for these BR style games is so many players and items on one massive open world that has to be entirely loaded at once is the underlying physics engines such as PhysX still only use floats or single precision vectors as far as I know. From what I gather the developers change everything to double precision vectors but there are shit ton of calculations going on server side and on every client and at load this can be incorrectly confused as a memory leak (mentioned in the video). The calculations would have to be repeated every frame too. A memory leak wouldn't return the resources though. While UE4 uses C++ for scripting no memory pointers are required as the compiler has built in garbage collection which makes it no different to scripting in Unity which utilises C# which of course requires no memory management.
