I have my concerns over Rusling, I know some Collingwood rate him but I am supplemental in my thought. Anyhow I was chewing out the word 'One Dimensional' and I thought to myself - Is Rusling One Dimensional? Ruslings game revolves around leading and "aiding" his eclipse speed off the mark. Opposition coaches will be well aware of this and they will close off his space hoping to take Rusling out of the game. How does he get around this obstacle?

He probably is a bit one dimensional but as a full forward i think its okay.

He leads very well and straight up the ground, has sticky hands and is a straight kick.

He's capable of kicking 3 or 4 a week so im not worried about him.

We also have other options up there so he wont be the only man to go to.

Port blocked up his space late in the year after he kicked 4 in a half yet we still managed to win as our small forwards took up the slack.

He is literally as good as Tarrant, only shorter.

He is a more reliable mark, but his shortness means he is lesss of a focal point.

We didn't see his best this year. The first time I saw him for Willi was amazing.

he isnt as short as people make him out to be, he is 189-190cm tall and is weighing around 85kg mark but remember did bulk up pre-season before getting injured and will gain another 6-7kg of muscle this pre-season. There is no doubt he will become our 'new chris tarrant' as he is quicker, and after a few more years of bulk, will be able to really add more strings to his bow and be able to stand toe-to-toe with the bigger bodied defenders.
Personally, im very excited at the prospect of 'RUS' taking a huge step next year- i think it will be a season where he should set a target and yield a minimum of 35 goals and keep improving on that. We also have T. cloke as well- future is looking very bright. (Bring on nov25).

Big Bad bustling bazza was often criticised for not being able to do much except lead in a straight line. I think it is fair to say that he has turned into quite a player and that given time rusling may learn something too..
The fact that the opposition have to designate to players to look after him is a bonus.
the kid can kick at goal which is a good change!

As he gets older we will learn to find space in the forward line, if collingwood is smart they will learn to block for eachother like they did week in and week out during the 2003 season! stick him at FF and keep the first 30 meters free for him to run the FB off his feet! if the forward line gets conjested, move him up to CHF

It's quite simple play Rusling one out inthe forward line he's going to beat anyone for pace and he'e a great mark and kick.

Rusling has played how many games?

He is still learning the caper and the more he plays in the side, the more comfortable he will feel at the top level and with his team mates around him.

He has a lot of improvement to do and add a few more strings to his bo, the beauty is, he is young and with hard work, can become the player we all want him to be!!!

He is no more one dimensional than Tarrant and he’s a better kick for goal. Tarrant 1 screamer every 2 years isn’t a dimension it’s just a highlight reel. Rusling is only a teenager. Don’t expect too much this year. If he can cement a spot and have a few really good games I’ll be very happy. If Rusling, Thomas and Pendlebury can have some influ3ence and permanent first 22 players and a couple others from the last draft or two can break in we’ll at least be moving forward for the first time since the 2003 grand final.

The improvement of these two getting into the middle was one of the reasons that we actually won some games this year.

Both are quality kicks. Johnson's kicking might look ugly, but to a lead he's one of our best.

Swan... Well, he just IS quite a good kick, so there's no real argument to be put up, you're just mistaken.

O'Bree and Liccas are ordinary kicks, we know that, but thanks to our recruiting going in the right direction, they're becoming a dying breed.

Rusling may be one of those players easier to be exposed over his career, but that will come down to his decision making and not opposition tactics. It can be believed that he is one dimensional, however, he is still capable of being that class act with a sudden injection of pace that can make nightmare's of coaches and defenders.

He has the assets of a modern day forward. Quick, strong, athletic. He just has to use them all in the right manner.

its been clear right from the start that the club believes he is a big talent.
