1. Sam Darcy
2. Matt Rowell
3. Naicos
4. NWM
5. Harley Reid

1. Sam Darcy - We need a serious key forward and given his age and what he's already shown he's a no brainer. While I like JUH Sam Darcy has to be taken.
2. Nick Daicos - Wins too much of the ball and for his age would be a must
3. Harley Reid - Backup for Wines
4. Max Holmes - For his run off half back, one of the best meters gained players in the comp
5. Izak Rankine - most dynamic forward in the game

nearly perfect for port.
id scrap holmes for a key back though, sam taylor or another young kpb

1.Sam Darcy (Joe replacement fwd and chop out in ruck)
2. Xerri...Big O upgrade.

with Brisbane's current list we would compete for the next 5years
Pending Strac comes back from his concussions 100%.
And we get Annable in the 2025 draft.

This is a tricky one, due the age profile of our list. I'd leave Bont out, which kills me as he's just an absolute gun.
Love watching him.

Injury is another (Sam Darcy) - I picked him in the 21st draft, best 22 team for a reason. I really think he's the most talented tall we've seen since Buddy. I'll stand by that. But players coming back from injury are risky to pick, in this instance, the reward outweighs the risk for mine.

Using AI to help summarise, which I've had to edit a fair bit as it churns out some bullshit sometimes, please see my list below.

It's nice to dream :rainbow:

I'd like to point out that I really wanted to fit Sam Taylor in too. Our ruck is that diabloical however, I can only pick so many.

The order below isn't in a true order of how I'd take them. More as a collective I think.
Too hard to seperate. If Darcy wasn't injured. He's probably be number one

🥇 Nick Daicos (Collingwood)

✅ Strengths

  • Elite Ball Use: Daicos is renowned for his precise kicking and decision-making under pressure.
  • Versatility: Can play both in the midfield and off half-back, providing flexibility.
  • Composure: Maintains poise even in high-pressure situations.
  • Work Rate: Consistently covers ground, contributing both offensively and defensively.footywire.com

❌ Weaknesses

  • Contested Play: Not known for his contested marking; as of recent reports, he had not taken a contested mark in his career.
  • Defensive Pressure: Tackling efficiency has been a point of critique, with a noted decline in recent seasons.
  • Susceptibility to Tagging: Has been effectively limited by opposition tags in some matches.news.com.au

🦅 Eagles Fit

Daicos would bring elite ball distribution and composure to the Eagles' midfield and defensive transitions. His ability to read the play and execute under pressure would be invaluable in a rebuilding side seeking to establish a strong core of young talent.

🥈 Zak Butters (Port Adelaide)

✅ Strengths

  • Explosiveness: Quick acceleration and agility make him a dynamic presence.
  • Creativity: Known for his ability to create scoring opportunities and navigate tight spaces.
  • Competitiveness: Brings a fierce competitive edge and leadership qualities. He'll lead from the front and take others with him
  • Versatility: Can impact the game both in the midfield and forward line.

❌ Weaknesses

  • Injury History: Early career hampered by injuries, though recent seasons have shown improvement. Kamikaze style play will lead to this occasionally
  • Discipline: Occasionally lets emotions affect decision-making on the field.
  • Aerial Contests: Not a strong overhead mark, limiting impact in certain situations.

🦅 Eagles Fit

Butters would inject much-needed dynamism and creativity into the Eagles' midfield. His ability to break lines and apply forward pressure aligns with the team's need for a more aggressive and versatile midfield unit.central.rookieme.com+1australianfootballstats.com+1

🥉 Tristan Xerri (North Melbourne)

✅ Strengths

  • Physical Presence: Strong and imposing in ruck contests.
  • Mobility: Moves well for his size, contributing around the ground.
  • Development: Has shown significant improvement, stepping up as North Melbourne's primary ruckman. Getting better and better. Skies the limit really.
  • Very strong in HTA, which is something we (Eagles need) and I rate

❌ Weaknesses

  • Experience: Still developing but flip side is ceiling.
  • Goal Impact: Not a significant scoring threat but getting better.
  • Endurance: Still building that base but it's pretty good now.

🦅 Eagles Fit

With the departure of veteran ruck options, Xerri would provide a developing yet capable presence in the ruck. His physicality and mobility would complement the Eagles' emerging midfielders, aiding in both stoppage work and around-the-ground contests. Imagine hit hand feeding Reid, Butters, Daicos and Anderson. (Hewitt would get of the chain too)

🏅 Noah Anderson (Gold Coast)

✅ Strengths

  • Size and Strength: Provides a strong physical presence in the midfield.
  • Consistency: Regularly contributes significant disposals and clearances.
  • Leadership: Emerging as a leader, setting standards on and off the field.

❌ Weaknesses (Not many)

  • Pace: Perhaps lacks true elite speed, which can be a disadvantage against the fastest opponents.
  • Offensive Impact: While consistent, doesn't always break games open with offensive flair. (Ed Richards was close here too)

🦅 Eagles Fit

Anderson's size and consistency would bolster the Eagles' midfield, providing support to younger players and contributing to a more balanced and resilient engine room. His leadership qualities would also be valuable in guiding the team's developing core.

🏅 Sam Darcy (Western Bulldogs)

✅ Strengths

  • Versatility: Can play multiple key positions, offering strategic flexibility.
  • Athleticism: Exceptional mobility and skills for his size.
  • Potential: Highest of high ceiling with the capability to become a dominant force in the AFL and a true generational player and perhaps future HOFer.

❌ Weaknesses

  • Injury Concerns: Has faced injury setbacks, including a recent knee injury.
  • Physical Development: Still building the strength required to consistently compete at the elite level.

🦅 Eagles Fit

Darcy's ability to play at both ends of the ground, as well as in the ruck, would provide the Eagles with a versatile key position player to build around. His potential aligns with the club's long-term development plans, offering a high-reward prospect if managed carefully through his early career.

🦅 Final Thoughts

This selection of players addresses key areas for the West Coast Eagles: elite ball use and decision-making (Daicos), midfield dynamism and leadership (Butters and Anderson), ruck stability (Xerri), and key position versatility (Darcy). Each player brings unique strengths that would contribute significantly to the team's rebuilding efforts and future success.

1. Goldstein. Will be a handy wingman for Rhys Stanley
2. Pendles. Will form a formidable partnership with Holmes, Smith and co
3. Travis Boak. We'll make a play to finally get him back home
4. Tex Walker. Imagine how tasty our forward line will be
5. Steele Sidebum. The "steak knife" accompaniment for Pendles

Why? Because We are Geelong
