Anybody else find this system ridiculous?
I can't think of any possible advantages to the buyer, it keeps them totally in the dark.
I just put in what I would consider to be a very generous offer to a small property as my PPOR, my first. I offered over 20% above the quoted starting price, and I suspect that the agent just used my offer to get more out of somebody else.
Auctions and private sales are far more transparent.
Just frustrating, especially when the agents won't reveal what it sold for, which doesnt help with researching fair prices.
