What do you all think of him?

He was no. 29 in the 2002 Draft and a morrish medalist many think he is to fat but thats just his build.

Has been giving good performances for the last month and has been emergency a few times this season. Could make his debut soon.

How do you guys rate him etc. I Think he will be a player but must work harder defensively.

I CAN'T BELIEVE HE HASN'T MADE HIS DEBUT YET!

I saw him met him at the start of 2003 and he was huge for his size. He is a tank who can play on either flank and find the ball at the same time. The Morrish Medallist should be noted as a worthy player. For memory Lenny Hayes is a morrish medallist and look at him now. Shackles has been emergency recently and hopefully he comes in soon.

He' ll probably get 2-3 senior games later this season before being delisted.

Too fat and slow.

Shax has no role in modern day football, other than Scotty Cummings sidekick at cake raffles and Club Pie nights. It is a disgrace to himself and to Dave Buttifant that he is in his condition. And if you say that is the way he is meant to be, then he should not have been drafted.

Either way someone's head should roll for this.

Over the past month I've had the chance to chat to Shacks a few times and apart from being a great kid. I think the sooner he gets a game the better, he has been here 18 months now he needs some sort of encouragment.

As for him being fat, he is a larger build but I wouldn't put him in the Cummo or Molly group he isn't fat.

WTF?

The reasons he should get a game are that he's a "great kid", and he "needs encouragement?"

I'm sure Nick Hider was a great kid who needed encouragement too.

OK sorry I should have repeated what a few have already said... he can play.

He is only slightly above average at VFL, I can't see how that qualifies him for a game at AFL level. (on that basis Ben Kinnear would play seniors every week).

He is fat and he is slow - delist him.

If Collingwood lose the next three out of four and are out of th finals race, then...

Shackleton should come in for a run. He is "fat and slow but can't play football".
He won a Morrish Medal in 2002, so you would think that he can actually play football!

As a junior he would have been twice the size of his opponents. Early developers don't always make the grade.

Good VFL player where body size can make a difference.

you don't say, that has got no impact on what i said. He has been consistently performing, and even better if Williamstown aren't performing.

When new midfielders come into the the seniors, they do not play in the midfield. If they can kick a goal they play up forward, but if not they play off a bank flank or have a run with role to 1) pick up the pase of AFL footy and 2) learn to play defensivly. Lukes problrm is that he has not stamped himself as a goal kicker and ATM is to slow to play on a half back line or to run with someone. I think that if he has any chance of playing for collingwood this season then he must play as long as he can at half back for Willy.

winning a morrish medal doesnt mean he should get a crack
matt stolarczk won the morrish in '99 for gippsland power yet didnt get drafted, david rodan won two in a row, and he is floundering at the moment
i wouldnt play him unless absolutely necessary, he is big and slow and that isnt what we need right now

get mullins in there

Shackleton may not get a game, but i have seen him play and he can play on the half-forward flank / half-back flank. My main opinion was that if Collingwood are out of the race and have injuries he should be first in line because of his consistency. Don't get me wrong, i love Luke Mullins as a player.

If Mick wants to keep Shackles as a long term player, then they should develop him as a Stuart Dew type. Put him on the flank and keep him there. That way he can roam up the wing and send it in to Taz and Pebbles.

I've never seen him play an impressive game for Willi. That amounts to televised games and the odd appearance live for less than a full match. I can't him with any future. Ditto Nixon.

I Think all this discussion is great and it is all good but i think only time will tell on this kid! Well have to wait n see..

But we have to make some calls at the end of this season. We must tade up our draft picks in order to be in the market for quality players and/or get quality drafts.

Shackleton would be a good trade back to his home state. Williamstown to Tasmania

:D

Only joking. If he gets some games under his belt then he might be a secondary trade for someone.
