Competition for midfield and small defenders spots will be hot so Birss just needs to have a good run with injuries and I'm sure he can do enough to impress the coach. Birss has a good defensive ethic and that is something the coach values in his players.

If he can string together a few games without getting injured then he will do just fine. I hope he plays round1 but i dont think he will since hes only played one game back from injury.

I think he will abttle to play round 1 due to limited pre season game time. However if Crossy is out it may open the door for him.
As far as getting the ball around the ground he has improved in this area and he must continue to do so. This as well as developing his ability to be a run with player.

birss has traditionally been slow to recover from injuries, ie playing form.
he generally takes a few weeks to get back in the swing. Needs confidence from a coach that regards him as well. We'll see if eade rates him

I think Birss will have a big year and cement hmself in the side on a permanent basis. He attacks the ball hard and is one of our toughest players, the backline and rebounding may be two of his main roles. He's also good at laying tackles and putting pressure on opponents.

He also has a great kick into the forward fifty and like Boyd is continually under rated
