Did anyone else notice Shane Edwards' boots tonight?

I personally didn't but I have a feeling that they were on backwards.

His disposal tonight was absolutely deplorable. 3 or 4 times he kicked the ball 45 degrees of where it was supposed to go. It was hand in your head stuff circa 2008 - 2009.

In addition to that, this isn't a one game thing. His other 3 efforts prior to tonight were so disappointing. Mainly because of how far he'd come last year. I can't believe how far backwards he's gone so far this year.

Anyway, needs a spell in Coburg for sure. I know it wont really teach him much but he's really depriving players like Webberley, Nason and Tuck just to name a few of a game at the moment.

I believe at one point in the 3rd or 4th quarter his kicking efficiency was at a whopping 34%.

Surely, SURELY this is his week back at Coburg.

He''s physically forgotten how to kick, been like it all pre season too.

Baffling really.

Pathetic.

Use to be a massive fan.

He has all the skills to make it except kicking. Just awful stuff.

Needs to go. I reckon he and Graham cost us at key momentum points tonight!

People have been saying tuck can't get back in the side because his role is being taken up by jackson and martin, but in all honestly ANYONE would have been better playing edwards' role tonight than edwards was.

i am in my 40's - the last time i voluntarily missed a richmond game would have been when is was in my teens , my 15 or 16.

next week is the last week before i go to New York for three months so therefore will not see a game until round 20. If Edwards is not dropped I will not go to the game.

That is as big a statement as i can make.

Can't sprint and kick at the same time. I've lost count at how many times he has shanked the ball over the last four weeks. Needs a run in the two's. :thumbsd:

Edwards was simply awful tonight

Graham was pretty bad as well

King not much better

All three robbed us of critical momentum at important times (just like Morton and Connors in previous weeks).

All 3 need to be dropped

hard to believe how ordianry he looked at in disposing of the pill, he was accumulating the ball well , clearly lost confidence when he started really searching for a handball, when the game was all over he actually disposed a few clean balls, but in the heat with wshots on goal and passes I50 he was well short of c grade amateur standard...dunno what MM did to be dropped before this bloke:o

not just his kicking his defensive efforts are deplorable and he has no idea whats around him this guy has no upside quite possibly the worst player to play this year

very poor disposal, no awareness, and he was on Thomas for most of the night and Thomas had a night out(no defence).
How does he continue to get a game???? astounds me!!!!!
Tuck, Nason and Webberley all waiting in the background are much better footballers! It is time.

2 things I never do are keep a pet whipping boy, and write a player off early. I'm prepared to do both here. He would be feeling so shit right now, but he just does not belong in a good side. If we want to be competitive, he can't be in the 22. Gone at the end of the year.

Worst individual performance I've seen by a Richmond player since the tambling days. I felt similar rage to what I used to feel watching tambling play. But the ironic thing is he is actually quite a different player. Where Tambo had no flipping idea how to find the ball Edwards has no such problem. However both players are prone to brain farts of nuclear explosion type proportions. Edwards was so bad tonight he contributed more to the pies than us. Think he wanted to be able to say one day "I was part of a premiership side".

Any chance that it's not boot related, but an occurrence of the dreaded Richmond "leg"?

Just absolutely attrocious. A shame really, given how much he improved last year.

Patience; he will find that form of late last year given time. The skills do not simply disappear.

Tonight he was not good ... but we were playing Collingwood.

The next couple of weeks we should be pretty competitive, lets see how he goes under a bit less pressure.

Thats all good in theory, but when were in the finals in the next few years where there is pressure whos to say he doesnt revert back to his bad kicking/decisions/defensive pressure.

Dont get me wrong id love for him to turn it around, and would hate to see him delisted and find another team and smash us like others have done in the past. But right now he is not playing like an AFL player and I am sure there are some others on the list that deserve a shot.

He will be playing for coburg next week on that performance. Unless Dimma is like, "look he made a few mistakes but look hes a great player and were certain he will find some form in the next couple of weeks" he'd have to be kidding himself wouldnt he?....lol

This is not the correct way of going about it. He needs to show he can stand up under pressure and then also perform against the younger sides. Not just have a good game when it's easy..

Seriously that is one of the worst games I have seen in a while. How the hell do you run through the centre unopposed and drill the ball along the ground 30m? How does an AFL player do that....I play VAFA and I am a better kick than him.

He shanked another 7-8 thats the worst part...and he shanks them at critical stages. His inside 50s tonight were all scrubbers/ off the side of the boot. He needed to kick a pivotal goal under no pressure in the third...should have nailed it easily and kicked it out on the full.

I was watching with two mates and we actually started to joke about how bad his game was and how it couldnt get any worse until he kicked into the man on the mark.

I have always like Edwards and thought he was going to be a player....but I think he might have to go because he has shown no improvement this year and butchers the ball more than most in our side. THink the only way to save himself is as a small FP dynamo which I have always believed is his best possie....

Seriously that kicking was so far from AFL standard.

Did he get WOG on Triple MMM?

:thumbsd: never will make the grade -DITCH the Titch
Gus ? too slow, too nice , does not show me he wants to be 1st ruck
surely Tom the Xman can't be too far away

This is an extremely good point Maroo.

I have a feeling that perhaps his omission this week will be because of a leg injury. He'll probably join the same rehab group as Connors in a bid to recover as quick as possible.
