did anyone see the special on the shane mcgowan and the pougues last fri night on sbs???? was very sad to see how bad the guy had got..does anyone know if he is still kicking ok because he was soo drug and alchohol ***ked that he didnt look like he had any time left. Would be a shame - i still love the pogues after all these years.

I missed it. Was it "I f I Should Fall From Grace"? I've got the DVD. Shane is alive and relatively well and still touring. I saw him and the Pogues at the Brixton Academy 2 Xmases ago and they were in brilliant form. They were going to put out a live cd from the reunion tour but that's not happened. In a small world moment, I was there too. Great night it was.

Shane was in good form allthough he was hobbling around and needed to leave the stage a couple of times which was worked into the show via instrumentals.

Shame I missed the Docu. I picked up the Popes live in New York which is a great CD for those who love the Pogues.

Missed it, and he's still alive and kicking, but he'd have to be struggling. As Ralph said when they named him the world's greatest ever drinker, you must be horribly affected by the booze to get kicked out of an Irish band.

PS - I have it on got authority that the "friends shaking hands" part of the "What a wonderful world" filmclip with Nick Cave took 13 takes to do because Shane was so out of it.
