Coming up to Christmas now with the shops getting busy. Which shopping centres do you frequent the most and which ones do you think are the best with the best shops.

For me it would be Knox City, Doncaster, Chadstone, Vermont South Local Shops and occasionally The Glen. Thats in no particular order. Chadstone and Donny are good.

I do a bit of research online then buy it online or go to the nearest store

I don't have many to buy for but I get it done pretty quickly for example I took the Mrs to Crown and told her to pick some stuff out

People will laugh but I actually don't mind Highpoint does the job

Shopping done.

Doncaster is a disaster on any Saturday in January. Avoid like the plague.

Every major shopping centre on Saturday is bad in terms of finding a carpark. The next couple of weeks are going to be especially bad as on the last week before Christmas the major shopping centres stay open till about 10pm so its good all your shopping is done early and not on Christmas Eve. I havent gone on Christmas Eve but has anyone done the all nighter.

I just go to Westfield Geelong, or Market Square. They are pretty much the only 2 options we have in terms of big shopping centres down here :p. Handy they are across the road from each other too.

You could go to Corio Village, but no on wants to go there :D.

Chirnside Park can be a real bitch if you're wanting to find a carpark.

Due to its size, Eastland's a hellofalot worse.

Chaddy's a nightmare at any point of the year.

A simple yet really effective way to avoid all the hassles is to go as early as possible if you're going to a major shopping centre. Obviously a lot easier if you have the time but rocking up bright and early will mean getting an easier car park, more room to wander around, less queues at checkouts, retail staff in better moods, you're in a better mood, and you could even reward yourself with a coffee at the end.

I hope you 40yo mums take this advice.

Would go to the city over any shopping centre every day of the week.

Dont mind Doncaster but only because of the lights in the car park that direct you to the empty spots, havent been there in a while but.

Southland on weekends you can spend more time looking for a park than you would in the shops and the place is so spread out its like a hiking trip to get from one side to the other. Really have to plan for what shops you want to go to in relation to where you park.

Chadstone i dont understand the appeal, I find the fashion capital marketing line to be false advertising . Read they want to build a hotel there now. LMAO.

Visually I like Harbour Town at Docklands the best, I like the outdoor Mall type thing it has going. Probably not best for Melbourne weather though.

I avoid them like the plague as well. Have resorted to ordering most things online, but anything I do need, I get in and out quickly. The parking is bad enough so you need to get there really early. KMart is open at 8am, an hour earlier than most of the shops in the centre. Ideal time to shop if you can get up that early.

I did all my Christmas shopping online last year. It was amazingly stress-free. Before that I had a rule where I didn't go to the shops before the 23rd of December. My reasoning was that I quite like the hustle and bustle of the crowds and the Christmas feeling but it needs to be limited to a couple of days not an entire month.

I'm an in-and-out shopper so I get seriously annoyed by the fat mums with prams who slowly meander around walking right in the middle of the walkways. I also try and get there before 11am during the year and 10am during the Christmas period. It's much, much quieter. Plus I can then get a coffee, read the paper and watch people stress out.

I don't have any parking problems because I don't try and get close. I'd rather park a 5 minute walk away with no problems than to get stressed sitting behind someone waiting ten minutes for someone to leave their park. At Highpoint I park in the dirt car park opposite the movie centre. In Albury (23/12 rule) I park on a side street or in the Commercial Club carpark if I'm in the "CBD". No hassles.

Chadstone has all the high end fashion brands that normal people don't shop at: Burberry, Chanel, Coach, Gucci, Hugo Boss, Jimmy Choo, Louis Vuitton, Miu Miu, Omega, Prada, Ralph Lauren and Tiffany & Co.

But yeah for the rest of us it's not different to a normal shopping center except larger and more crowded

I'm the same. Have a quick glance around to see if there's anything close, but if not, straight to that carpark (especially now a lot of them are taken up by the redevelopment). It amazes me (unless you have a wheelchair or pram) why you would waste so much time trying to get a park in close when you can get one hassle free that's maybe a minute walk further away.

Even though I live quite close to Corio Village, I would prefer to wander around at Westfield or Market Square as well. They have all the shops Corio Village does plus more.

I'm getting into the online shopping now though. It's cheap, quick and you don't have to walk through massive crowds of people. The only downside is that you have to wait for it to be delivered but that's not so bad.

I remember reading an article in England that claimed the 'Chavs' had ruined burberry. I believe this to true of Tiffany &co in terms it's become very bogan.

Expensive jewellery and clothing is ruined automatically, by virtue of being ludicrously expensive and coveted by shallow rich bints.

Whether it becomes 'bogan' or not is irrelevant, the fact anyone wants that shit in the first place speaks volumes about their lack of a personality and greedy nature.

Perhaps but Tiffany & co's brand, unless they were going for the bling market, which I doubt they were, is ruined and will only get worse.

Give a shit. I'd love all those brands to go under, they're symptomatic of a consumerist and shallow culture. They are the literal representation of everything that's wrong with the upper class.

Tiffany's is not an exclusive brand and it's not just the upper class who buy exclusive brands.

Finally, take a chill pill, it's pointless to get your nickers in a twist over people's shopping priorities.

Who said I'm not chilled? Just because I'm not some shallow, materialistic buffoon who cares about what brands are having a hard time because poor people are buying their products, doesn't mean I'm upset.

It just means I'm different than you.
