wish people would stop bringing up the flag 7 years ago.

its another lifetime ago!

Cant people see how bad we are? We need assistance of any kind.

We still aren't going to be winning double figure amounts of games for 3-4 years probably anyway so why the salt?
Agree. We've been excruciatingly bad for four seasons now.

Opposition fans and analysts don't get to revel in the fact we've been historically bad over a four year period only to turn around and mention the premiership seven years ago.

Well, it just proves the point that there's no advantage to having a member elected board over a directly appointed one.
The problem as i keep pointing out is current board members nominating their mates to replace them.

Said it before and I'll say it again. Why does anyone care in the slightest what other teams or bell ends in the media think about us?

Think Geelong fans care about what other teams think about Bailey Smith or their dodgy land deals? Hell no! They're too busy celebrating consistent success. Except for Cat Man 🤣

It's all just noise.

And now the mob anger moves to Tasi.

Football is just a bunch of nimbys crying outrage everytime anything happens that isn't about their club.

Our assistance package is nothing outrageous - and doesn't even address the imbalance caused by comprised drafts. Nothing to be outraged against.

And Tasi needs picks and concessions to build a team. Nothing to be outraged about.

Feck me we need to turn this around before 2027 - Tassie's draft access is significant & who knows what the Academy landscape will look like that year.

Shit time to be bottoming out (grim times ahead for Melb, Carl, Ess, & perhaps Coll?) - fingers crossed the worm is turning & we can lock in the key pieces for our rebuild.

If we can't get out of the mire after being down for 5 years then Tassie will be the least of our issues.

As much as we've sucked over the last few years, we're in far better position to not have Tasmania affect us too much compared to a fair few other teams.

Providing we don't shit the bed in the next couple of drafts anyway.

Listening to SEN and the outrage at our assistance package shows that 99% of AFL fans are dim and understand very little about the game. This also explains who the media caters to, so expecting any semblance of fairness, objectivity or critical thinking is about as likely as umpires being consistent.

Hird frothing at the mouth and convulsing in outrage over the compensation package is more an indictment on his intelligence than anything else. Either that or his hatred of all things Eagles blinds him in the same way Freo fans are blinded to their clubs 30 years of irrelevance.

Collingwood,Brisbane and Geelong are also, how are they travelling ?

end of first next year would've been worth a lot more to us, given the shallow draft this year and the new bidding rules coming in. But I guess Brissie will be happy to get another end of first round pick for Starcevich right 🤷
WTF are people saying we need to give an end of first for Starcevich when Allen and Draper going to Brisbane would wipe out any compensation for him... ie BL would get precisely ZERO for him. To maintain good faith, I'd just promise them we won't bid on Annable and offer up the Hawks 2nd Rounder (34-ish). That is as good as handing them a guaranteed 660 points (or Pick 23) they would otherwise have to find.

When Hird's Plan A to improve his team as coach was 'Pump my team full of horseracing peptides', you can see why he won't quite understand the troubles other clubs may find themselves in.

I've given up on most AFL media, and try to stay away from anything involving Hird as it makes me angry #hulksmash

Ironically, I think I was one of the few West Coast supporters that really liked Hird as a player.

Speak to idiots and you have a large audience.

Not exactly a massive boost. Pretty sure it might only end up shortening our trip to despair town by maybe a year. Clearly not as good as North's last free kick. Still will take it compared to this year's pre- assistance crap. Taking Hawthorn's picks vs carlton's was a pretty massive mistake.

Hird was one of the best footballers you'd ever see.
The reaction from the crowd for him & Sheedy finishing up at Subi was terrific.
Think most appreciated him...& probably happy he wouldn't play against us again.

I would have preferred the ability to pre-list our NGA, but given the current trajectory of our kids for 2025, the consensus is that the majority of our bids will be Round 3 or above, so it is neither here nor there.

Next year, if we finish at the bottom with fewer than three wins. I want Pyke to be asking the question again, akin to North and GCS package;
  • Pre-list 2026 NGA Cohort
  • Priority Pick, if not, Mid Round 1 pick that doesn't need to be traded
  • Extension of the four additional list spots to continue.

We won't get another pick. The outrage that the richest club in the land got one at all is already toxic.

Pushing to prelist NGAs shouldve been the priority and still should be.

With there being no points value for picks after the third round, how will clubs match a bid if someone chooses one of our NGA kids with a fourth-round pick?

Lots of people on here were saying we definitely wouldn't get this year's pick
