Ok ill preface this thread by saying im flying over for the first week of the finals from a far away place ....but in looking at the finals i think Brisbane are the most vulnerable side in the Final 8 (My opinion) ...If we go hell for leather and try and beat Adelaide its going to take a shit load out of us and we still may not get the result we want ....should we rest/ make excuses up for injuries and got into a final against Brisbane at the Gabbe or At home with a fresh approach and considering if we win it will also stand us in good nick for further finals ???? Can we flirt with form or do we take a risk and prepare for Brisbane and know itll be them we play home or away with rested Bodies ????

PS I would love to see the Blues against the Hawks or Essendon at the G but i would also love to see them advance and give themselves the best chance of success in the finals eg A prelim at least !!!

GO THE BLUES

Brisbane at the Gabba is the worst outcome.

Brown + Bradshaw with no key defenders would be a nightmare. Also QLD has been very warm lately which is a major issue.

No way, prefer to be in winning form going into the finals. If we finish 5th we would most likely be playing the Bulldogs the 2nd week of the finals anyway, as opposed to if we finished 6th or 7th we would most likely be playing Collingwood or Geelong. I'd prefer to knock off the Crows.

If we win this week, we'll be one of the most in-form teams in the final series. We would be full of confidence having beaten serious competition such as the Crows & Cats.

Also, finishing 5th will make the boys feel a lot more confident and deserving of their chances at going deep than if we finish 7th.

With the form that we would be in after a win this week, I don't see why any supporter would fear our chances against the inconsistant and injury depleted Bombers or Hawks.

Enough of this stupid losing attitude, we will never get far with it. It's about time we stop fearing teams and started to back ourselves - that is the only way we are going to win a flag, let alone win a single final this year. No matter what opponent we face, it is going to be tough regardless as the opposition will have just as much incentive to be intense at the contest as we will. It is a cut-throat final, after all.

There's really no guarantee Sydney will beat Brisbane anyway, and as mentioned, the Brown/Bradshaw combination out there will cause us nightmares. I don't care if we beat them twice, H&A record between individual teams means nothing when it comes to the finals. This is exactly why we should not fear Essendon or Hawthorn - think of the finals as a clean slate. If anything, beating another bogey side will increase our confidence more as going into Week 2 we know that we can overcome that psychological barrier.

You have to consider that Essendon or Hawthorn are going to be limping into the finals, and have more losses than wins. I am absolutely positive that if our intensity is high at the ball, then we can win. As it well should be considering it is our first final since 2001, and a few of the players would want to make a statement. Fev in particular, who has an excellent record against both sides.

A workout against a good side like Adelaide is a positive thing, because the game itself is almost like a mini final and may well prepare us better as far as intensity and pressure goes. No easy win or loss here, it should freshen their minds to be committed.

I do not want to play Essendon or Hawthorn

We would much rather play haw or ess because we are a much better team then them due to the amount of injuries they have. A game interstate would be the worst outcome due to the lack of finals experience that we have also adding to the away crowd of Adelaide. I think that beating ade this week would be our only viable option.

Just cant see us breaking down the Crowbots zone, so our best result is Swans beating Lions at SCG then we play Lions in Melb with no Merrett and Fev fills his boots...

Well suck it up, because we might have to.

God, I hope our players don't have this shit attitude.

I think we should be thriving to play these teams. Sure they beat us during the year but wouldn't it be sweet to be able to shut those arrogant Essendon supporters up if we beat them in the Elimination final.

Well said :thumbsu:

Im happy to play anyone. Would love a home final so i can attend though:D

A win over the crows would see us play either Hawthorn or Essendon who are both playing off in an early elimination final this week. Both sides playing their guts out for a spot.....can only be good for us.

A loss will see us play Brisbane either here or there, and im quite confident we can beat them again.

POSITIVES PEOPLE.:thumbsu:

Brisbane at the Gabba is the worst outcome.
What I can't work out is if we lose to Adelaide but finish above Brisbane, why would we be going to Brisbane and not staying here?

Brown + Bradshaw with no key defenders would be a nightmare. Also QLD has been very warm lately which is a major issue.

The heat factor is sensible......but are you serious? We have beaten the Lions at the Gabba the last two visits........we have beaten the Lions the last three times, two of them without Jammo.......Waite has played forward in both those games.

Oddly enough Thornton has done a reasonable job on Brown, and Bower will have to take Bradshaw......but with Merrett out with a hammy (maybe 2-3 weeks) and Fev in good nick, bring on whoever. :thumbsu:

No way we should tinker or tank this week.

It should be a full dress rehersal for the first final. If we can maitain and improve our form, there are more than a few teams above us starting to get the wobbles.......you just never know where this year may take us. ;)

Show the players Lloyd's stupid smug smile from One Week at a Time when asked if Essendon would like to meet us in the finals.

Can't stand the prick.
Hope the Hawks belt the living shyte out of them next week such is my despise of the EFC. Ferals.
Notice how everyone is an Essendon supporter whenever they play us or the Pies - yet they got belted by Freo and you don't hear a peep from them. Bandwagoners at their finest.
*vomit*

What I can't work out is if we lose to Adelaide but finish above Brisbane, why would we be going to Brisbane and not staying here?

If we lose to Adelaide, we will only finish above Brisbane if they lose to Sydney. So If we lose and Brisbane win, we play Brisbane in Brisbane.

this is a stupid thread.

adelaide will be a great test and if we can get a win the confidence will be invaluable. i'll back our boys to smash either ess or hawks who will have considered it a victory just getting into the finals after the seasons they've had whereas i think our guys actually have the belief they can win a final at least if not a couple.

Good luck blue boys!!!!!

agreed. stupid thread.

there is a reason Hawthorn/Essendon will finish 8th. They're not very good. Would love to play either of them.

I so want Essendon to beat Hawthorn this week, and us to beat Adelaide, there would be nothing sweeter then knocking the Bummers out of the finals in week 1 :D We can do it!

Any ideas of tanking or losing this week to change opponents is just plain stupid... apart from Collingwood we are the form side of the comp.... continuing our winning ways will only get us further in the finals... I dont care who we play in the first week.... we will beat them all the way we are playing. Dont mess with good form

if we can beat them up their this year we can do it again in the finals
Brown got crunched in the last qtr

also hope Hawthorn and Essendon bash each other so who ever wins will be too stuffed to win the following week ;)
