What are the general thoughts of us turning out against the Skunks wearing a silver guernsey as part of a sponsorship deal with Silver Top Taxis?

I've always been a strong supporter of alternate guernsey's but with only one proviso: Our colours are Yellow and Black and as such, our uniform should only include that.

Still, I do accept the economic reality and that to an extent, we need to prostitute ourselves to make a buck.

Exactly that. The WC is not a serious competition anyway (although we could do with the prizemoney), and deficit arising from the MASSIVE losses over the past couple of years needs to be chipped away at. As long as its no during the real season, no dramas.

did someone say prostitute?. :D

I`m all for it but not against Collingwood

To do it against them would be fraught with peril , silvertop would end up doing thier nuts and we would lose the sponsorship .

Why you ask ?

Can you imagine all the Silvertop Taxis turning up after the game to take the punters home , only to have 100`s of them either mugged , bashed ,knifed , abused , spat on ,spewed up on , jumped , stolen etc . ?

As i said i am all for it but against a team where the supporters are predominantly decent and law-abiding

Years ago, i would have said sacreligeous but couldn't care less now if it earns the club money and keeps us out of the dole queues.

Stop trying to get into Froars`s pants peej , it`s making me sick

Sorry PJ, but ditto. And i don't think PJ really knows what he would be getting himself in for. The word "masochism" comes to mind - in reality, much worse lol. I would not inflict me on anyone :D

Wouldn't like to see them do it in the home and away like the powder blues did, but in a practice match comp I wouldn't care if they played shirts v skins.

Now there is someone who has tickets on themself. I was being nice - I like to be nice to people. If you mistake that for anything else them you are sadly mistaken.

Like so many things the more you do it the less it hurts, and you wonder why you made a fuss.
We were forced out of our black and white prison bars to join the AFL and survived.
Then a few years ago we played and won a H&A game in our teal training tops for $300,000; as part of an M&M promotion. Actually looked great.
Not the VFL anymore, go for it!

Oddly enough, I would really like to see you use your prison bars guernsey a bit more - it did look good when you wore it the year before last in the heritage game.

Still, I guess the colour teal is now the one that is associated with Port Adelaide. When I see silver, I don't think 'Richmond'!

I do actually hate the thought though that it all comes down to money.
The more professional we come and the more we take away the things we love about the club in the first place - the colours, the jumper and everything else - the more and more i get less enjoyment out of the game.

May not be the VFL any more Powerstuff, but there were some good things about the past which i wish we had back. Reserves footy at the same ground and day as the seniors for one.

yer thatd be good as... when and why did that stop?

Reserves footy doesn't exist outside of Victoria because it is perceived that AFL Reserve sides would dominate their local comps.
In Adelaide the players of both AFL teams are spread through the SANFL in a mini draft. The SANFL doesn't want all our rookies etc playing for the Port Adelaide Magpies because of the realistic expectation that the PAMFC would dominate in the way the PAFC used to. Likewise no Crows reserve team.
The same system exists in WA with players spread through the WAFL teams.
I don't know how it works in Brisbane and Sydney
However in Victoria I thought the VFL acted as a reserves comp for the AFL, with Hawthorn players going to the Box Hill Hawks etc. Is this not so?

Non-Victorian bastards.

We should have keept the resevre league for Vic clubs only. Was great.

Silver Top Taxi 1-2-3, Silver Top Taxi you are he?

or...

It Bit Dog ******** you are not it?

For the record, I prefer the yellow Vinataxi's. The drivers don't mess you around.

I also hope this whole Wizard thing helps keep Wizard's interest rate down.

I think Geelong is now the only team that fields their reserves team in the VFL. And North Ballarat and Frankston are the only teams that are not aligned to an AFL club. 2004 was the first time Carlton and Essendon haven't fielded their own reserves team.

I think the clubs are aligned as:

Carlton - Preston
Collingwood - Williamstown
Essendon - Bendigo
Geelong - Geelong
Hawthorn - Box Hill
Kangaroos - Port Melbourne
Melbourne - Sandringham
Richmond - Coburg
Bulldogs - Werribee
St. Kilda - Springvale

As it stands, none of the standalone AFL clubs have dominated the VFL. Frankston and North Ballarat, however, are very well run clubs but do find it difficult to succeed against the others.
