Cameron........Wood............?
It's always good to have options but we need to focus on Simon at this stage. If we change the focus to Wood, then Buckley might get another series of games...... and that means NO PREMIERSHIP!!

I think that now that Harry is out of the team, Buckley will play with more confidence and not worry about missing the ball

I understand the problem with Harry. He doesn't look like me. His hair is different. He sounds different. He talks different. He thinks different...but Bucks is the main issue now

Yes, he's back and we are absolutely CERTAIN to be caned this week.... mark my words, if we dont win by 170 points this week, we'll all know who is to blame...

I hope we can get some much needed percentage. 170 points? You must be kidding. The margin will have nothing to do with Buckley, give the guy a go please.

The real true Collingwood fans have forgotten about Buckley's effect on our team. These fans have thought that they had a good outcome by getting Buckley dropped and now they are focussing on other "problem areas" like Cameron Wood and Chris Dawes and Travis. Meanwhile, Buckley is got in by the back door again and is causing all those mischievous things that he normally causes. We need to focus our blame so that Bucks, and the other key people at Collingwood, understand that Simon Buckley is the key reason why we are not going to win the Premiership. After that, we can move on and make sure that they know that Cameron Wood is the key reason. But we've got to focus on one at at time. It's no good taking our foot off the pedal halfway through the "race" of getting Buckley delisted. It's no good whimping it and saying how unfair it is to blame one player for the shortcomings of the whole team. Of course its unfair! ...but we need to press on...

I hope we can be gracious about exiting players. Some players just aren't good enough to play quality football at the top level. Nor are any of us but I won't call you names and if you get sacked from your job I won't dance on your grave.

We can have a discussion about the merits of a player when they are at the club but once they are gone they should be thanked for their efforts because while they were at Collingwood they tried to help the club become better. Not eveyone is blessed with supreme talent.

I actually thought he was serviceable this year. He was a lock in our side during the period where we won 10 in a row and played quite good footy. Often took kicks in, pushed forward on occassion and locked down on a man.

With a full side, he would never have been top 22, but I don't think he was as bad as many made out. Thought he had a dip this year. I also think a player with questionable decision making but great skills should be used higher up the field on a wing so he can simply kick the ball long inside 50. This is how Hawks have used Young to success.

I hope we don't do the same to Young now. If we think Young is going to go across half back and dominate then I worry. His best footy is on a wing and breaking the lines through the centre.

Yeah I didn't think he was too bad.
The only real stupid major error he made that I can recall when he tried to centre the ball at half forward and turned it over.

i think he had his best year for us this year, then ironically was delisted.

Totally agree with delisting him, but he definitely played better footy this year.

He was just one of those guys with plenty of talent, a good build for footy, and booming kick - but just no spacial awareness or decision making skills whatsoever.

The classic athlete, not a footballer.

6'3" 90+kg, 55+m kick off either foot, reasonable speed and enduance. Thats a pretty handy athlete in my book.

Put the brain, dedication, committment and decision making of Blair in that package and you'd have a hell of a player

An athlete to me is someone who can run all day, has genuine speed, great athleticism i.e. leap or agility etc. Simon Buckley doesn't do any of these well.

Sure, he may be "reasonable" in one or two of those categories but he is far from being an "athlete".

fair enough.

I was merely saying that someone who is of almost key position size, but can play as a midfielder is a quality athlete.

Perhaps 'solid physical specimen' was a better descriptive phrase to use
