Double breasted for mine.

Suits are a great thing to own, my only problem is that there are very few places to go out dressed up. Going out to a pub or club you'd be way over dressed and I go to very few posh dinners where it would be acceptable.

Don't own one and haven't for at least 25 years.

if you are a very slim guy and you want to add the appearance of bulk to your frame, go for double breasted. DB suits also flatter those of a more portly stature; they are roomier inside and provides more movement and comfort.

otherwise, SB is probably the go. 2-buttons is good, but 3 is better. side vents make sense for when you sit down, or when you put your hands in your pockets, but most suits do not have vents at all. the single vent down the middle is very american and is not very flattering esp. when you bend forward and they part to reveal your arse!

pinstripes are classic; they can give the appearance of height on a short guy (like me), particularly if they're tailored. good shoes are important; nothing I hate more than seeing guys on the train wearing a decent suit but really ****e shoes. completely ruins the look.

yep, not much opportunity to wear suits in Aust., except for work. also the tailoring is just ridiculously expensive in this country :(

interesting insight Susudio

what about buttons..do you think they should be the same colour of the suit..im thinking of replacing some with spanking silver coloured buttons on a single breasted suit i just pulled out of the wardrobe

yeah, normally the buttons are the same colour although with some lighter coloured suits (light greys, beige etc) the buttons are actually a little darker than the suit.

silver buttons would look excellent on a navy blue SB or DB blazer, worn over a pair of lighter coloured pants. they probably wouldn't work on a suit, but then style is subjective.

Reasons for wearing double breasted, Big shoulders, big gut.
McGuire should wear double breasted, the single breasted he had on the other night was a shocker. Could have done with an iron too. Letterman should wear single breasted, his are to long and look like coats.

Double breasted for me (Big shoulders, big gut)

I agree falchoon - many guys wear suits that don't look particularly good on them. you've got to wear suits that are in proportion to your physique.

have to be careful ironing them though. I usually use a gentle setting and iron my suits under a slightly damp hankerchief (or similar), otherwise you may risk burning a hole in your suit!

however, a suit made from really good fabric, i.e. super 100 and above, require only a good brushing, then it should be hung in the closet where it should bounce back into shape.

I generally prefer a single-breasted white suit with deck shoes and a bright pink or yellow t-shirt. Sleeves of the suit rolled up of course.

Bigfooty Vice. Is Fred a black fellah who dresses similar and helps you resolve crimes all in the space of an hour, all while deeply immersed in a stew of high drama and casual encounters with flossy tight babes with faux breasts?

I've suspected since Round 3, that we were cancelled and actually existing on re-runs of past dismal Richmond seasons.

Double breasted for me.

For no better reason than when I went to buy a suit some years ago, for the reason of wearing it to job interviews, I fancied the look of double-breasted more than single.

Oddly even today the only time I ever have reason to wear the bugger is when I'm going to a job interview...
