Been about six years since John Elliott got the sack.....What are your thoughs of the man ??? He did alot of great things for the club and i think we should remember him for that.

Mixed. He (and his administration) were responsible for sending our club to the wall and irreparably damaging our reputation. But there is no quesiton that he loved the club and put everything he could into it- he was a fantastic promoter of the club (and self promoter too) and had a large hand in our last two premierships (and our last three spoons). I still think taking his name off the stand was an unecessarily vengeful thing to do by an administration that were hopelessly inept themselves and handled it disgracefully.

No matter what, I'll alway think more of him that that dog Ian Collins.

Elliot did so much for our club for a long time, but unfortunately did not move with the times quick enough so our dodgy practises were caught.

A lot more than Elliot were involved in dodgy admin. at AFL clubs, the others were just smart enough not to get caught.

Took us from being the richest and most successful club in the land, to broke and the worst team in the land.

Love his arrogance, hate that he cheated and cost the club 3 wooden spoons, I'll forgive him though, overall a tick from me!;)

I don't care what good things Elliot did, the arrogant **** was responsible for almost wiping this club off the face off the earth and he can die for all I care.

It's 5 years on actually. Loud, boorish and offensive, blinded by arrogance to the point he thought he would take on and beat anyone the AFL threw up .. and damn near did. Generous to the players on one hand, insulting and humiliating on the other hand. The big saving grace is that he loves the club as much as anybody and he genuinely believed he was doing the right thing.

There was the public persona and there was the private softer persona as a friend to many players. I suspect those friendships hurt us dearly in the end.
