Hi guys,

I've just set up skype but when I run a test I have no sound. My laptop has a built in camera (not that I've used it) so I thought I would have built-in mike and sound, too?

I get a message saying I need a sound card - is there something I need activate on the laptop or instal a sound card/device from somewhere or do I need tech help or just use a plug in mike?

Thanks,

Kev.

Sound card I'd say, if there was no mic then it would say something like "no microphone detected"

Yea thanks ... Would there have been one installed and now gone? Can I download from somewhere online or do I need take to a tech shop?

You can't really download a sound card, it's a hardware thing. Tech shop I'd say. Surprised TSW hasn't chimed in yet. Probably be better than my drunk posting about that time a year and a half ago I worked in IT for a while. But, should see if your laptop does have a built in microphone while you're at it.

Try and find out what sound card you are using first and update the drivers online. Sometimes it's just old software not being compatible with the newest version of whatever program you're using.
