Had a bunch of my year 8 kids telling me to play this game, after watching it on youtube - wasn't really all that caught up in the youtube clib btw.

Downloaded it over the weekend, and became totally immersed in the simplistic/ horrific nature of this game.

If you guys are unsure of what it is, it's a simple 30 second download game, where all you have to do is find 8 pieces of manuscript in the dark, secluded forest. Simple really...

Here's a link to the site where you can d/l it from:

for the full pant-craping experience, play it at night, in the dark, all alone, with headphones.

It's interesting how developers in the mainstream continue to go action, action, action in order to try and emulate the COD's of the world. Yet everytime, without doubt that a game that is truly scary comes along, it gains worldwide recognition both mainstream and everywhere else.

It's really too bad this game is freeware as everything that has come out about it has been extremely positive in it's fecal matter producing abilities of those who play the game and it has obviously spawned a vast amount of Youtube playthroughs due to that very reason.

Why developers don't want to try and continue with games that are truly scary and instead go down an action oriented route is beyond me.

At least we have these smaller devs that are absolutely focussed on giving scares even if there's not a whole lot else to do.

I haven't even given the game a go yet, but definitely will when the time is right.

Holy crap this game is intense. When you're watching someone else play it, it doesn't look that bad. Definitely not the case when you're the one in control!

Sneak up on someone while they're wearing noise cancelling head phones whilst playing this. It is the legitimately the most I've ever scared somebody.

Played it a few times but only had a real crack at it yesterday. I was under tr assumption the only time he was near the screen went all fuzzy, so I'm running around the building looking for page number 4 and BANG. Loud noise scary looking man right around the corner. Quit the game and not touching it again. First time I have yelled out in fear in my life. Bigger that for a joke. This is worse than amnesia for me.

Skype with friends + slender is probably the best thing ever on a boring friday night :D Listening to them shit themselves is hilarious... alcohol is of course involved

The sequel is up and running. You can pre-order (pay up to $60.20 to get your name in the credits) and with that, you get beta access to play the game right away. Full launch is on March 26.

No one has to wait any longer to be haunted by Slender Man all over again, as pre-orders for the Slender: The Arrival have gone online, and it immediately provides access to the game’s beta.

Head over here to get your pre-order on.

The original Slender: The Eight Pages was created by one guy, Mark Hadley. With Slender: The Arrival, he’s teamed up with Blue Isle Studios and the writers behind Marble Hornets, the surprisingly creepy YouTube series based on the Slender Man mythos.

The pre-order will set you back $5, or you can pay more for access to other bonuses, including the game’s soundtrack or your name in the credits. When it launches on March 26, it’ll be $10. The beta itself features a revamped take on the now infamous forest environment from Slender: The Eight Pages.

Has anyone watched the MarbleHornets/totheark internet series that this whole Slender mythos is built around? It's absolutely fantastic to watch and easily one of the most scary horror series I've ever seen. There's genuine fear inducing stuff in this extremely low budget, 'found footage' horror series.

The basic premise is that the main guy had a mate who was making some low budget (seemingly shit) movie, shot around the area that these guys lived in (mainly the woods) and throughout production he became paranoid, angry and frustrated. But what the frustration was about was unknown, until he decided that production on the film was to be halted and the tapes the movie had been shot on, destroyed by fire. Through persuasion the main guy managed to get the tapes off of his mate and proceeded to watch through them to figure out why he wanted this whole thing stopped and the tapes destroyed so badly.

This series is the result of what was found on those tapes and subsequently what happens to the guy that then goes on to investigate what was happening on those tapes.

I'm not going to ruin anything or go in-depth about what is found, but it's safe to say that it starts off relatively meek and mild and just escalates wildly into a very thrilling, scary and always entertaining horror mystery.

I'm only currently 33 Entry's in, but I am absolutely enthralled by what is going on in the series, everything really starts to ramp up and escalated by about the 20th entry and by then you won't want to stop watching.

I highly recommend that if you're into Slender or just horror in general you give this a watch.

The 2nd link is also to a page that branches from MarbleHornets that seemingly features viral video's from the 'enemy'. All of these are insanely creepy and really well done little snippets that just build into this cannon that they have going.
