This didn't happen.

You're a bit delicate aren't you? "We" in that lighthearted comment is everyone and it refers to our unending ways to make life difficult for ourselves. I'm not suggesting there's any apportionment of responsibility or action on our behalf, you twit. Playing home finals at the MCG fits perfectly under the shit I'm talking about.

From another 2016 article 'Recovery and convalescence after laparoscopic surgery for appendicitis: A longitudinal cohort study' specifically looking at recovery time until resuming normal recreational and occupational activities:

The median duration of convalescence (defined as the resumption of recreational and occupational activities) for patients with uncomplicated appendicitis was 10 days... Strenuous recreational activities were associated with an increased duration of convalescence (that's bad news for Sloane).

This will be talked about for years and years if we lose the game and we don't end up winning the flag.. this is another one of those crow moments that will haunt us
And when lever McGovern and Cameron also up and leave then I'll be done with this club

Sloane is an elite athlete, with a healthy body pumping plenty of testosterone... I reckon he could trim a few days off of that.

a twinge that forces one of these guys to miss a week would probably put your average punter out of action for a month.

looks like Oprah just gave them all a car

Sometimes they just take the appendix out while they're in there even if it's not the problem.
After ruling out things like kidney stones or hernias.. at least they used to do that.
He might just have a sore muscle or constipation ;-)

If the game was played on Saturday night (or Sunday) I'd be more confident.
At this stage I wouldn't rule him out but it would be touch and go assuming no complications from the surgery and he recovers well.

There's a lot of heresay that is taken as facts (when they could be opinions only). I will give you guys a good perspective on where things are at regarding appendicitis...give me 5-10 mins to do a write-up...

I see it the other way. A highly tuned athlete need only something minor to go wrong and their performance is stuffed. Ammos turn up half drunk and you can only smell the difference. Drop a spark plug off your formula 1 car and you'll notice the effect immediately. Same issue with your 120Y, "what issue".

In 27 seasons of supporting the Crows I can not remember a single time a player has had their appendix removed. Now two in 6 weeks

First off, news on Sloane's appendicitis...you must be F joking!

However, if we look back at Eddie's appendicitis and his recovery time, I think there's still a good chance he can play for QF, a very 50/50 chance though.

Ok, here are some things to consider:
- Betts appendicitis was mentioned as "burst" by Eddie, but this could just be layman talk, and might just be "inflamed and not burst". From my understanding, if it's burst, usually there's a high risk of blood poisoning and you're more likely to remain in the ward for a week or so, on intravenous antibiotics. Eddie left hospital after 2-3 days, so it was more likely it hadn't burst and he proceeded with a laparoscopic removal. This would give you best chance to recover the quickest, in his case within 7-10 days.
- Sloane's appendicitis can anyone confirm if it's keyhole surgery or open wound surgery? If it's ruptured or not? But if we go in the similar fashion of Eddie's procedure, Sloane would hopefully be ok within 7-10 days also. Literally a 50/50 whether he can pull up or not for the QF!

- people got to stop comparing their own individual recovery times to that of a professional athlete! Atheletes have faster wound recovery plus they have ways and equipments to help speed up recovery.
- you can have high pain tolerance all you like, but what matters is the amount of injury sustained by infection and/or procedure. This will govern roughly the time for the wound to heal. It's the wound healed over that's what determines whether a player can play, not how much pain he feels.

Sloaney get well mate. We need you on the park!!

This graph shows recovery from uncomplicated appendicitis.
The line we're interested in is the top one (strenuous activity). It shows that about 3-5% of people from this study were able to return to strenuous activity 9 days after surgery.
