One position on the ground that we have always struggled in is a A-grade small forward.
The position may be becoming extinct with the new interchange rule meaning players need to rotate through the midfield but is there any small fowards in the 2's around the country worth looking at?

Said it before and will say it again - draft mids, mids and more mids and only draft specialist smalls if they're absolutely stand out exceptional.

LeCras was Pick 38 in the 2004 Draft. McGuane was Pick 37.

Sorry to bring everyone down - but chalk up another!
Sorry to bring everyone down (again), but you can say this about any player ever drafted.

Player X goes before player Y and is worse = that clubs loss.

Except for Cyril most of the best small forwards were recruited late in the draft and were not exceptional.

This policy of drafting mids this season is a good one, but I also think we need to look at an area we are deficient in. Nahas is not good enough, Shane Edwards is more midfield and King is getting on.

Imagine our side with an Eddie Betts type dangerous, electrifying small forward.

We already have a ripping little crumbing forward running around at Coburg... McBean! And he's a nightmare match up too, because not only is he incredibly nimble, and dangerously slippery at ground level, he also happens to be 200cm+!

In all seriousness, he might be 200cm, but from what I've seen, it'd be more accurate to say that he's a like-for-like replacement for Nahas, than for Vickery.

Gideon Simon maybe? Think I read someone saying he might be 'too small' for the midfield so maybe could be a small forward? Apparently quite quick and nimble and might be good defensively if he can tackle and chase.

McDonoughue sounds like he will be a gun - only needs a few touches to influence a game (what great small forwards all have in common) and according to Choco, has the best understanding of the game at the club so is clearly a smart player.
