Smarkets (Betfair alternative)

Doesn't seem to be registered in Australia, but is in Norfolk Island. So it's a bit grey. Anyone got a work around? Anyone used them?

I used them up till about a month ago. They just recently put a ban on Australian users.

In fact there are number of exchanges they have just recently put a ban on Australians: Smarkets and Betdaq ( 1 year ago).

Matchbook you can use but only for pre-match betting (Not in-play betting).

All 3 exchanges have Australian dollar currency but at the moment there doesn't seem too many competitors to Betfair.

Closure of account
We regret to inform you that on 19th December 2016 we will no longer be able to accept customers from your location. Therefore we will be closing your account.

What does this mean?
From approximately 17:00 UTC on the 19th December 2016 you will no longer be able to access your Smarkets account. Therefore it is important that you stop betting and withdraw your balance before that time to avoid any unnecessary delay in receiving your funds.

Before that time, you will still have access to your account. Your deposits are safe. However, after 19th December 2016 all account functionality will be disabled, at which point you will need to contact support@smarkets.com in order to retrieve your balance.

If you do not use your Smarkets account you do not need to take any action.

They were providing 'in-play' betting from Australia, which by law isn't allowed in Australia.
