Woo-hoo!:thumbsu:

CAMERON Smith will finish his illustrious NRL career as a one-club legend after signing a new four-year contract to stay with Melbourne Storm.

The Herald Sun understands Smith has put pen to paper on a multi-million dollar deal believed to be one of the biggest in the game’s history.

The contract until the end of 2018 will see the 30-year-old finish his playing days in Melbourne after joining the club in 2002.

4 years is a long time. 2 playing before joining the coaching ranks maybe?
Would have needed four years to fend off the massive offer from the Donkeys.
He will take over from Bellyache.
Great news to wake up to though.

Good to see you back mate. Hope all is well.

Smith's alright, I suppose. Still room for improvement in his game. Despite having the, seemingly, better career, I've yet to see him play a game that comes close to Luke Priddis's mauling of the Roosters in the 03 GF. However, I don't think he's got it in him to reach those exospheric heights. Can't hold that against him, though.

Great news for the Storm, I suppose (except for the possible getting stale bit). They're going to need the emotional boost this week.

Panthers 24 -12.

obviously being a passionate Storm member im gonna be biased about how good Cam Smith is. But I have to admit about 4 yrs ago when he really started to get praise heaped on him in bucket loads I was thinking to myself "is he really that bloody good?? " . I actually thought Slater & Cronk were more important to the team.
But ive come to realise just how good he really is. Basically he just doesn't make mistakes. He is almost robotic in how he just fronts up over & over again to steer the Storm ship in the right direction with great decision making. And is cool under pressure.
I honestly thought he was gonna go to the Bronco's ( glad he didn't cos my father in law is a massive Broncos man :p)
Personally I think the Storm might drop off a little the next yr or 2, so to have Smith there guiding the young future Storm stars is a great bonus for the club.
