DOCKERS!!
In my view, the industry of Hard Rock is slowly fading away, but the band Soilwork possess everything needed to take themselves right to the top.
Their guitar work is heavy, and the singer is more of a shouter, but sings all mellow when the chorus rolls along. Awesome band, they're one of my favorites by far, and have had some songs on the Heavy Shift on FOX.
If you're a heavy metal or hard rock fan, or even neither, I strongly reccommend you check these guys out. Awesome music.

As cliched as it sounds, "I prefer their old stuff".

Their first couple of albums were a lot sharper swedethrash (TM), whereas they've rounded off the rough edges with the faggy singing/keyboards etc.

'Chainheart machine' was great, and 'Predators Portrait' was good, although this was where they started to get a little more commercial.

Did anyone see them live the other week? I was busy watching essendon get flogged by port (damnit), so I didn't go, but was keen to have a look.

Thoughts?

Very well said. Steelbath Suicide is also a good album.

That said, I prefer In Flames.

The early Soilwork albums are much stronger, the songwriting was more "fleshed out". Later albums are very weak, the melodies are boring, vapid, and cliched.

Dark Tranquillity's "The Gallery" still takes the cake as best melodic death metal album, and their album "Projector" is still the best transformation into a melodic hard rock band. Pity that "Haven" and "Damage Done" were less inspiring.

In Flames bore me to tears. Homogeneity is great upon first listen, but gets tired very quickly. "Jester Race" stands out a little more, but I prefer my melodic death with a little more bite.

A truly great album (though most of their stuff since was shyte though), but the best melodic death metal album MUST be acknowledged as " "Slaughter of the Soul" - At the Gates.

End of debate.
