Interested to read about people’s experiences and research into solar systems and batteries. I’ve got 10kw solar and 12.8kwh battery. When it was first installed bills went from $300/mth to $30. But it’s climbed back up. One of the interesting things is that the house sometimes draws trickling amounts from the house when the battery is picking up the majority of the shortfall. This annoys me even though the $ amount would be minimal.

We’ve ordered an extra battery and have changed to Amber, so will see how that goes. Apparently we can join a virtual power plant next year and get a further SA Gov rebate based on new battery size.

Have only had 2 bills, but definitely cheaper so far. New battery just installed, so should be able to take more advantage of the higher feed in tariffs when they occur.
I've been reading their website a bit, but it's difficult to understand and think through how it would work.

If they just had some stats on what the wholesale feed in tarrifs have been recently - like a graph of it over time, so I could look at an example summer and winter day, I'd be able to understand it.

I guess I could call them. It also doesn't seem to be worse than anyone else, and potentially a lot better, I'd just prefer more clarity. That's the game though. I should start an energy company, I reckon I'd be great at not making things clear.

On those hot days just after Xmas the highest I saw was around $25. There were numerous around the $5-$10 range. I think it’s the hot and still nights when the sun has been switched off, the aircons are on and the wind isn’t doing the job.

At 2:40 today, this is what’s going on. Our 10kw solar has been dialled down because the feed in is negative. If you were purchasing power you’d be paying 6c per kWh.

Can I ask what size battery you installed and the cost after rebates? Are you happy with what you have? Thanks.
