Which is greater - the number of double-digit scorers on the Denver Nuggets or the season assist total for Etan Thomas?
They are equal. Both have one.
Forget the south end of Network Associates Coliseum. Thomas' one handout in 354 minutes makes him the NBA's "black hole." He edged out Vitaly Potapenko, who doubled his total this week to two in 273 minutes.
At his current pace, Thomas will catch John Stockton in just 7,500 years or so. That is our favorite stat from the first half of the season. And there were plenty of candidates.
Steve Nash has one blocked shot in 1,378 minutes. However, Eddie House has no blocks in 426 minutes, Jeff McInnis has none in 602, Jacque Vaughn has none in 822 and Tyronn Lue has zero in 942. Just so you don't think we're picking on the little guys, Boykins has two - one more than all of these guys combined.
"I don't know (whose shot I blocked)," Nash said. "That was probably a statistical error." The starter with the worst field-goal percentage is Phoenix's Joe Johnson, a shouldn't-be-shooting guard firing away at a .361 clip. Honorable mention goes to Toronto forward-center Antonio Davis, who is 6-9 and shooting .374.
The player with the best steal-to-turnover ratio is Sacramento's Doug Christie at 118-to-78. On the other hand, Toronto center Greg Foster has one steal and 30 turnovers. If these guys had a 1-on-1 game, would Foster ever get off a shot?
Wallace's free-throw shooting is still an adventure at 45.5 percent. However, he is better than Phoenix's Bo Outlaw (.439), San Antonio's Bruce Bowen (.407) and Seattle's Reggie Evans (.406).
The league's most exciting free-throw shooter is still on the Lakers, but it's not Shaquille O'Neal. It's Mark Madsen, who forces opponents to wear Kevlar when he steps to the line. He is 2-for-10 with at least three airballs.
And the only starter who is at less than 40 percent from the floor and under 50 percent from the line is Miles, who is shooting 38.2 percent while making just 30-of-61 free throws.
Remember, you can't spell "Least Improved" without M-I-L-E-S.
LOL...love the ending, poor old Darius Miles. To be fair to Thomas though, he has been playing well for the Wizards despite his 1 assist. Ill keep an eye on that though, see if he can get another one
