Shows how awesome/loyal we Richmond supporters are, and also that we're probably still one of the big 4.

More surprising to me is that Port Adelaide are 3rd for Sponsorship and Marketing Revenue!

Though that means we're less reliant on them than other clubs, which should be an advantage with the proposed reforms.

Goes to show we can stick up those who have a go at our membership numbers. $ value wins.

Port's revenue baffles me however.

the problem is we spend alot lower on our footy dept than other clubs although our sponsor and member monies are good but not much else. overall revenue is only 33m which is why we need more revenue streams not tied to on field success. problem is you need to spend money to make money ie buying investments that make money pokies, pubs and the like. but more than likely you would have to borrow money for these.

North Melbourne - $26,017,066

We still have some work to do.

The football department spend amount shows why we need the FTF.

This is the point I have been trying to make on the main board.

A point you have been making very badly

you ignore our gaming venues are amongst the lowest in the league

you ignore the fact that our sponsorship and marketing revenues includes merchandise sales (which most clubs report seperately)

Also where are the FTF revenues located? sponsorship/marketing is up $3m, is it here, which drops this figure further?

Then of course you fail to acknowledge we still have a large $3.5m debt we are slowly paying off.

We are doing okay, but we have a long way to go before we can start hanging shit on other clubs financial performance.

Your Department spending component is rubbish. You need to break that down into capital works expenditure. No point bringing up this stat if it's not accurate. You're telling me that NM spends 5 times more on their football dept than richmond?

Having looked at what might be more accurate:

Richmond - Employee Benefit's expense + Football Support expense = NM Football operations is where you get your value.

EG - 16.9M + 3.4M which is TPP and football Dept. North has lumped both in together which doesn't discern football dept in their report.

Looking at Carlton's account keeping, their breakdown is even more dubious. Page 20 of their report has a special 6b and 6c breakdown, IE, 6c is a Breakdown of 6b which is a breakdown of the original statement. In that, the football dept costs are hidden in 2 different values. There is no real breakdown of "Football Dept" costs at carlton, you need to total up all the costs at richmond minus player payments and compare that to their total for costs. There is no apples to apples comparison, each football club reports their position completely differently. The AFL should be enforcing some sort of accounting standards.

I'm not telling you anything. These are stats taken from the thread that the above figures are also taken on.

Yes, breaking it down might reveal a different figure. However, it doesn't take a brain surgeon to figure out the higher the number the better.

The numbers mean something - it's not a coincidence that Collingwood is at the top of all the categories. That's what we should be aiming for.

the figures you posted aren't even correct though in terms of comparison. You just pulled an unequitable figure out for spending on what you quoted was "Football Dept", at least the OP pulled the compartive figure per club.

That's where I took the figures from. The same thread that the OP took the figures from. I didn't pull anything together, I didn't quote it as football department, I just copied and pasted from that thread, the exact same as the OP did.

Read that thread and then question the relavance of the figures, as I said before, they are not my figures. Nor my words, nor did I come up with them. I am reposting them in this thread as the OP did.

If you got a problem with the figures, take it up with the references:

Richmond - http://www.richmondfc.com.au/portals...financials.pdf
Western Bulldogs - http://www.westernbulldogs.com.au/Po...0Report_LR.pdf

as I believe that's where the figures were drawn from.

If the figures are not good for comparison, then take it up with the OP of the above thread. Perhaps I was wrong for copying and pasting it, but they're not my figures.

What's the point of having Richmond and Hawthorn on there if the numbers aren't like for like? Are you seriously suggesting North and Port spend nearly 7 times more on their footy department than Hawthorn?

juss, care to explain how you came up with your figures?

Cheers

most of those figures includes the wages for players and coaches, our wages are in a seperate section

stupid to compare the base figures
