How good does this look. A lot of people are saying it's the first time in ages they're looking forward to a Sonic game more than a Mario(cat) Game.

Damn straight.

There is a bit of truth to it in general.

There's no doubt that Sega is a bit better at managing the blue one than they did in the mid 00's.

Generations was great, Sonic 4 was decent and from what I hear Colours was good as well.

But if you look at the original posts at the start of this thread, then if this turns out to be a stinker the cycle will be applicable here.

I have already posted the Sonic Cycle Cycle once, I'd rather not have to do so again. It's both old and untrue.
Except in this scenario.

Jim Stirling's review is up on Destructoid. Seems to explain in a paragraph the reason for the wild variations.

Sonic Lost World can wildly swing from brilliant to horrific at the drop of a hat, but when one steps back and takes a look at the whole production, one sees far more to love than hate. Certainly, the nastier elements prevent it from being the truly great installment it could have been, but the experience is good enough to where I would desperately entreat Sonic Team to keep doing what's been started here. Please, no more desperate shifts in tone and level design, no more dramatic new overhauls. On a fundamental level, Lost World absolutely nails it, and does what Sonic should have been doing a long, long time ago.
All it needs is time to refine, and Lost World could become the start of something beautiful.

Still going to get it today, the part on the IGN review where he said the game is hard and proceeded to show him playing really really bad like he wanted to die (casually walking with the ground falling behind him and then jumps waaaaaaay too early) means i cant take that review score seriously.

On a side note, that 60fps :thumbsu:

3 worlds in and I'm enjoying it. The 2d sections are brilliant and i'd love to see another 2d Sonic based on those. The 3 bosses I've beaten so far are pretty easy. Not sold on the parkor system, most of the time enemies are in the path of something to climb so you lose all momentum and need to build up a decent enough speed. Never liked the wisps and its even worse now that you're forced to use the gamepad to control them. Think my gamepads motion controls need to be calibrated, aiming the rocket wisp was an absolute joke. Enemies can no longer just be jumped on, some require the new kick attack to kill or disable, kind of annoying as this breaks your momentum a fair bit, probably the biggest negative for me so far.

Level design seems decent enough so far, hunting for red coins and multiple paths give the levels a bit of replayability as does the option for time attack and co op. Tropical Island acts have been my favourite so far. Desert Ruin ones are fairly average and play pretty slow.

7.5/10 for me. Not as bad as some reviews have made it out to be but i'd have Generations ahead of it. IGN reviewer must've been awful at this game to find it hard though.

I played Nights yesterday for the first time on the Saturn. Does it have the fat blonde boss?

Yep
