Sonic Youth

Good song. I didn't know that they were still at it. Who is the 5th member in the video though? It's funny how Thurston still looks exactly the same as he did 20 years ago!! My favourite Sonic youth songs would be Schizophrenia, Dirty Boots and Bull in the Heather.

Saw them live for the first time in 1993 and have seen them many times since. They are one of the few bands who keep getting better with age. Washing Machine is my personal favourite album but they have so many good albums that I could name about 7 depending on which day of the week it is.

If you haven't been exposed to Sonic Youth yet do yourself a favour.....

i am STILL ANNOYED they've never released "1991 the year punk broke" on dvd (or have they - anyone know?)
Great versions of Schizophrenia and expressway to yr skull from memory by the 'Youth.
I would have: death valley '69, schizophrenia, expressway, chapel hill, all of goo and dirty and skip tracer from the diamond sea.
If any fans see lee ranaldo's poetry book about (released mid 1990s) it's highly recommended:thumbsu:

sounds good. i love lee's songs. always thought his lyrics anyway were more like poems
infact most of my fav SY songs are done by lee

it's out there - they're certainly abstract and modern. Much like how "skip tracer" (a personal fave of mine) is abstract.
Yet, I found it accessible, IIRC it has fotos/art as well however it's at mum's house which is 1700km away so i can't check.
Came out around the same time as washing machine I think. Smallish in thickness (maybe 50-100 pages) and size.

I have just had my second listen to The Eternal and love it. If you like Sonic Youth at all you will love it. Haven't sat down with the cover to work out which song is which but loved all I heard. These guys are just timeless and The Eternal has reminded me why I have so many Sonic Youth CD's.

Please Tour.

Fantastic photo and liner note dedicated to Ron Asheton as a bonus to us fans and as a nod to one of musics least known and most loved legends.

Ron Asheton forever.

Anti-Orgasm = Orgasm:p

It's in my top 3 albums released this year so far, it seems to get better with every listen.

*bump*

anyone got the book goodbye 20th century?
is fantastic. half way thro it atm

goes thro each band members upbringing..the NY no wave and art scene in the early 80's. the struggles to get going at first with drummers comming and going. im upto 1990 right now.

highly recomended
