ok lads, quick summary;
about three weeks ago the headphone jack on my laptop stopped working properly. when i run an audio cable from the laptop into a sound system the full range of sound doesn't come through. but it's kind of weird - there is definately more than one channel (i know because i've listened to most music through one earpiece on bus, train and car trips with other people) but there is definately some sounds missing.
it seems more like some frequency ranges have been knocked out more than anything....
anyone know if this can be fixed, or even if it's worthwhile. i know opening up a laptop can be quite an expensive process.
