Sparrow has been suspended for a week for tackle, the AFL site said this.

Sparrow has been cited for a tackle on Will Day in the fourth quarter of the Dees' thumping win over the Hawks, with the incident graded careless, medium impact and high contact.
Broadcast vision on the night did not clearly show the tackle; Sparrow dragged Day towards the ground as he handballed, with the Hawks gun hitting the ground out of shot.

if the umpire did not report it and the vision does not clearly show it how can they cite him??

It could be that hawthorn medical report said that Day hit his head on the ground and the vision shows the tackle being a swinging motion. We clearly dont know all the info.

But then again its the MRO so chook lotto.

It’s a sling tackle. He slung him. For the past 8 weeks this has been a week (or more if injury occurs).

Clubs and fans need to realise the rules have changed. No doubt Dees challenge this just like Adams/Merrett/Day challenged and it will be again thrown out, because the new interpretation is any sling tackle is a suspension.

Sparrow tackled him well by 2022 interpretation. In 2023 it’s a week.

Sling tackles have been penalised for over a decade now.

Embarrassing thread, Melbourne are not being harshly judged as a team (remember the Pickett suspension?). And of course the AFL had more footage, there are always wide angle views available. He's lucky to get just 1 week based on precedent this season.

If day wasn't a hard nut, it's 3 weeks plus. Day was groggy for a few seconds and probably should've had a concussion test

Wow. How the hell is that only one week compared to what Day did to get 2 weeks ???

That is exactly the dangerous tackle the AFL claims they want to stamp out.

Yeah on that new vision, most definitely a dangerous tackle - given the dumping motion at the end.
