They're not getting hacked. Every website is an easy target and Telstra are paid big dollars by all companies to ensure that malicious incoming don't get through. Telstra own the hubs, so you can't change the provider, how are you going to stop it besides paying a ransom if indeed there is one? Rumour has it that the UK Sportingbet was threatened a year or so ago and that they maybe targeting it's other interests as a result.

Yah, they are not just taking money from peoples accounts. They are just making it so people cant use the website so therefore sportingbet isn't making any money. They wont take money out of your account.

I havent used sportingbet in ages, bloody useless site, they capped me from their site. (i think a maximum payout of $5) Sportingbet no doubt I think read stuff off this site, if they do = Your site sucks! and australia's largest bookmaker? PMSL


My friend also tried to place some AFL bets during the season, and they werent happy, slammed the phone down every time he placed a bet with them.

i agree, that these so called "big bookies" need to be called out for trying to create a false image that they take on huge bets from anyone and going around all forms of media tooting their own horn about it is freaking pathetic and above all, not true. u start winning with them and they cap your amounts and its the end of that.

I use TAB, centrebet, sportingbet, sportsbet and betfair. For some reason sportingbet is the only one that has capped me so I havent used them for ages.

Its really annoying because I only deposit a certain amount to bet on a certain event and they then only allow me to put like part of that amount on and the rest of my money gets trapped in their site because it cant be withdrawn until its been bet through.

Only decent thing they have is a lot of fantasy stuff, but other then that the site feels so restrictive.

Glad I read this thread then. I am considering in starting an online account and sportingbet was the number 1 choice as i thought they had the best odds as they state, but if you are not free to bet what you want and get capped they can get stuffed.

Don't have an online account as i feel I may obtain a gambling problem, so I use PlayerTAB walk in put my bet down and walk out.

Bookmakers are there to make money, just like everyone else, they don't have to accept your bet. With sport it is a lot tougher than racing, as there is only really three results ever available for bookie and they have to try and chop out especially with favourites through the other markets they create for the event.

In Australia, racing dominates and it's where all the money is made while sports guys will get shut down a lot quicker who know what they're doing especially as the majority of the sports managers get a cut of the percentages. If you're only making 2 or 3 million for the year, the margins are a lot smaller for them any error or real bad result can seriously be felt.

If u bet enough with them u might get a bottle of grog and 2010 calander in the mail. They must be doing alright, any other sites diahing out such "gifts" (generally paid for by ur punting)

eg. Like I remember on Brownlow night I wanted to put $10 on a long shot for someone to place and the site declined it and said I was only allowed to put $7 on so I had to put $3 on something else which is annoying.

The casino cap your bets, they've got it plain and simple from the time you start. As soon as you start taking them down you are out. This is fact. This is fact with any gambling business, bookmakers are no different. You have to think around it and explore the possiblities otherwise complaining about taking them you down in a market where they have maybe a 1k on every week, obviously they're going to cap you.
