A couple of questions:

a) Which is better NBA 2K3 or NBA Live 2003. I've never really bothered with basketball games so I have no idea. I was close to buying NBA 2K3 given EA Sports shortcomings but wanted to make sure first.

b) Are there any F1 games out that are based on this season. I've only seen the '02 versions.

I also picked up G1 Jockey 3, the new features look promising, I haven't played it much yet.

i got the pc version of nba live 2003 and was really happy with it. my only dissappointment with it was that trading a rather medicore team in franchise mode to make a star team is TOO easy. i had a team ranked 12th, and by years end my rankings were 1 in every department. i simulated the next 5 seasons and was 82-0 each year. so if that was more realistic and ahrder to get the stars nba live 2003 would be tops and hard-pressed to beat. so i recommend you get that game and give it a go.

2003 is good, but you might as well wait for 2004. At least that should have Yao, not to mention the upcoming draft picks.

The franchise mode is decent... I picked at 29th, I've worked my way into Western Conference contention, so try to set yourself a challenge. Hopefully the next version you'll be able to trade players for draft picks etc.

The worst part of franchise mode is that some players won't resign with you for the maximum contract, but they'll sign with others for the minimum.

I prefer NBA Live, but as Guey said, wait for the new version, due in about Oct/Nov.

I love this one, but doesn't have much longevity if you're any good. I had it finished within 2 days, thus it went back to the shop.

Glad someone else is having the same problem.

Really frustrating to see a Tim D or Payton go for the minimum when you're given no opportunity to sign them at the same price.

I might be doing something wrong, but i've yet to see how you can offer a star the minimum deal.

It is very similar to the original with a few more features that at the moment make it more complicated. It's an improvement on the first, a much more rounded game, but I guess because of the genre there isn't enough scope to change it around radically.

No games have longevity. I prefer sports and racing games because you can come back to them, GTA etc are pretty pointless once you've finished them.

Not yet on PS2.

But you should get Grand Prix Challenge anyway. It's awesome, (based on 2002 though, but if you want a good game, you should ignore that...) and has the best videogame version of the Spa track ever. (which you won't get in any 2003 game)

And it was made in Melbourne by real F1 fans. ;)

Here's a link to one of the programmer's GPC sites:

...and if you're still not convinced, just read some reviews at www.gamerankings.com
