Caulfield Guineas Day

R1 - Revitalise (4) appears to be a prominent pick in a tough race to judge perhaps

R2 & 3 - struggling to find anything with great confidence...

R4 - Black Caviar (6), the star attraction.

R5 - sticking with At First Sight (4) here, it has measured up well so far

R6 - a few chances in Toorak Toff, King's Rose... others... but I am finding it hard to go past Fast Clip (10). It will be near front and has had two tough runs so far... would appear to be up to the task, Schofield on board. Should be good value.

R7 - never been a fan but thinking Smart Missle (3), is out of favour after playing up and burning punters a couple of times but I dont think there is any doubt he can beat this bunch when 'on'... feel Helmet is unders on back of dominate last start win, is it warranted?

R8 - Valentine Miss (5), class above the rest and very conistent in high grade races.

R9 - Utah Saints (6) put in a few sound efforts already this prep, hard to fault... plenty of support for Testa My Patience and Studley Park but stick with Utah Saints

Good Luck!

Already jumped on Smart Missile his last run was a complete forget job, cant see him paying 3.30 on race day, Luxbet have a free bet deal going if you horse runs second in a group 1 race, surely he runs top 2..

Guineas could just about be the highlight of the spring. However, I will be sitting it out from a punting point of view. I'm struggling to split the top 3 and then there is chase the rainbow and Moody's horse could be a blow out. I would probably tip Helmet but with no confidence and won't be taking the short odds.

Im all over Smart Missile in the guineas. On Sydney form it has the other 2 covered and im not sure Chase the Rainbow is at the same level

I've been a big fan of smart missile, I'm not so sure though. Helmet would be my tip but not worth it at those odds really. Tough one

Im interested why people have jumped off the Missile? Was it just his last run where Prebble took him back to last then rode him for luck along the rails? I thought he ran really well in that race where he was given no chance to win.

This time in a smaller field with a gun jockey he will get a nice sit and should pounce at the end. 2 starts back he was an odds on favourite to beat the Sydney horses and he came from last in a slowly run race and ran like a crab up the straight and missed by a nose.

Smart Missile seemed pretty wound up first up while the other two had lengths improvement in them. Still a big chance though.

Not sure, i reckon he is just a superior horse. He is on a Cox Plate prep so you wouldnt think he would be too wound up early. Not sure how many people play multis on the Horse's but Smart Missile to place at around $1.30-40 is a very good multi booster and i couldnt see it losing

He could be the superior horse, that's why I'm looking forward to saturday, it's a top quality race. Atleast you've got an opinion and not sitting on the fence like me for the race, but I think helmet might be the best of the bunch.

I took Smart Missile for the Guineas/Cox double about a fortnight ago, I liked it then, and I like it even more now.

Going to be a very good race though, looking forward what sort of chops Chase the Rainbow has against quality opposition.

He doesnt need a gun Jockey...he just needs one that ISN'T Prebble

Melb folk - Hows the weather. Should start off dead and upgrade to heavy? (for tomorrow don't care about MV tonight)

I got jut over 60's for the double, but I know it was available for way better than that even a few days before I jumped on.

Not sure on the exemptions for the Cox, but I think if he runs alright this weekend, he should get a look in. If he wins this weekend, he'll shorten for the Cox, and I'll probably look to lay off anyway.

Good thing is, if he does get a start, he'll only be carrying 49kgs, and Cummings has said it definitely won't be Prebble riding. Corey Brown has been engaged, and is currently dieting to get down to the weight.

Personally I think Smart Missile is the most overrated and overhyped piece of horseflesh we have seen in Australia for some time. For one, the trainer has NFI.

Helmet has a far superior record and has not be given the credit he deserves. Reckon he could win this easily and stamp himself as Cox Plate favourite.

Average Cox Plate year & getting weaker by the day.
Fave is a Kiwi who beat Red Ruler last start & next 2 are 3yo's by Exceed & Excel & Fastnet Rock.

Any Manawanui lovers in here? He has defeated Helmet & Smart Missle before..

He certainly hasn't done anything wrong. It's going to be an amazing race. Paris I think you are way too tough on Smart Missile, probably should have won the rose and then got Prebbled last start. Having said that I have a slight leaning towards Helmet at this stage.
