Don't get me wrong, I don't like the cold, growing up in NW Victoria I sweltered through the summers and I love the heat. But Victoria needs all the rain we can get to fill our reservoirs heading into summer.

Yeah I know, it's kind of a catch 22 situation, we need the rain but we also need some damn sunshine. :o

I can't believe what the weather in Melbourne is going to be like over the next few days. Looks like i will be hitting the beach on friday. It's going to be in the early 30's. About time we got some good weather.

it was 35 degrees here today - and we're expecting hotter over the weekend (thank goodness im going to the relative coolness of Bathurst over the weekend!)

exactly. I was looking the other day and it was to be in the low 30s here and then I see that it was forecast 21 for Melbourne!

Not totally true - We don't get extended periods of heat like some other places but it can get damn hot here. I lived in North Queensland for a year and I've felt hotter in Melbourne than I ever did there.

Inland it does get scorching in summer, I remember it hitting 50 degrees one day when I was growing up in the northwest of Vic. Even so, it does get hot in Melbourne. Its not uncommon for it to get over 40+ degrees in summer and 35+ degree days occur quite frequently. Just because its cold here in winter doesn't mean it doesn't get hot in summer.
