Tremendous first quarter defensive effort from the Knicks to keep the Spurs to only 12 points.

With Deke and Van Horn in foul trouble, the Knicks were forced to keep Kurt Thomas out there for the entire quarter and he responded with 5 points and 8 boards.

Excellent effort from Michael Doleac so far too, he really has put the stops on TD whilst contributing in other defensive areas.

3 steals in 5 minutes for Michael Doleac.

Very underrated on the defensive end.

Man, Steph is good to watch. His schooling of Parker and Ward tonight is a sight to behold.

TD keeping the Spurs in it though, impossible to stop for more than a few minutes at a time.

You just gotta feel for Kurt Thomas.

The guy is making a relative pittance, yet works his arse off, only to see KVH's (who earns 3-4 times as much) laziness and sheer ineptitude when needed to either defend, or take the ball to the hole.

No wonder Kurt is one angry young man.

Classy though to keep working his butt off. Won't hurt his reputation at all.

True, although the frustration does boil over at times.

Remember this quote from last season:

"I'm the only stone cold mother****er in here. I'm the only one who wants
the ball. I need to get more shots."

Hope Kurt gives NY the flick when his contract is up at seasons end, and goes to a team that respects him enough to pay him.

:D The squeaky wheel gets the grease.

Bruce Bowen deserves some props for his complete shutting down of Allan Houston.

Houston hasn't had an open look all night, and is currently 2-10 from the field, with 6 turnovers.

52-46 nearing three quarter time.

Is it me or does TD get a brilliant run with the officials, at least on the defensive end?

Pretty average game. Clutch Charlie just nailed a 3 to put the Spurs up 60-57. With Steph and Lenny Wilkens, I think the Knicks have a huge scope for improvement over the next few seasons if they can keep guys like Thomas around.

Question - why is Devin Brown guarding Marbury at times? Although very athletic, he is still slightly defensively challenged.

Full credit to Bruce Bowen. He already has my utmost respect, but he is catching the eye of many other people.

In terms of Timmy, I feel he often doesn't get the respect from the refs that he deserves, but I'm a Spurs fan.

Tim Duncan is, simply, a delight to watch. Yes, the Spurs rely on him too much, and that can never be a good thing. Duncan is the only champion player at the Spurs, though, and that will be the difference between them getting a high rank in the west or a low one. Dallas and Minnesota are the superior teams in the mid-west, though. They also both have guns delivering, day in and day out, like Nowitzki and KG respectively, but the difference is the support that these guys get from their teammates. Dirk gets the support from Finley, Nash and Jamison, whilst KG gets the support from Cassell and Spewell. I'd currently rank Dallas as the best team in the mid-west, with second and third going to the wolves and spurs respectively.

Every time that I’ve seen Duncan live this season, he’s delivered with a double-double (surprise, surprise) and 30 points or more to top it off.

I agree with Dingster that the Spurs won't go too far in the play-offs this season. A first round exit is on the cards. Minnesota will (finally) advance through to the second round, winning the series against the spurs. That's my prediction.

Damn, KVH got injured.

KVH defence sucks no doubt but has been really effective on offence over the last 2 months and has been rebounding quite well.

And he has been taking the ball to the hole and more aggresive, that's why he has been getting more FTA's than any other Knick.

Don't know if you can draw that conclusion simply becaus he is getting more FTA's then other Knicks.

I've seen three Knicks games in the past month and i've only seen him take it to the hole 3 times, and twice he's been bitchslapped (including today by TD).

KVH is a good jump shooter, but he doesn't know the term 'aggression'.

Not just going on stats... I am always interested in how KVH is going so read a lot of opinions by Knick fans and they say he has been far more agressive and looking to drive to the bucket over the last 2 months than he was to start the season, where he was soft as. Jump shooting is definitely his strength though.

Pretty boring game! I hate watching the Spurs and Duncan, yeah they are the champs and Duncan is a great player but they are just boring. I sat there and watched the game and thought TD had a quiet one. Then the boxscore revealed him to have 30 and 19?? I didnt even notice, you notice when KG gets 30 and 19.

Fair enough TD's big game is no less better then if KG got that statline but KG is just infinitely better to watch. I just wish ESPN would show some better games with some different teams.
