Any thoughts on the squad and who should have or have not been named in first place ?

Plenty from Caulfield and Banyule.

Um - small point but where's Kirzner?
Not in good enough form?
Being saved for the A/B match?

And no-one from Uni Blacks - Parko must have told them all to feign injury to avoid selection

"Windsock" Cultrera obviously graced the palm of the selectors to get the nod - probably just so he could be excused from the torture of this week's club training. With that hair-do, he's pretty lucky to get in. Still, he is really only a D Grade gun player moonlighting as an A Grade forward pocket anyhow. Pretty slow off the mark too.

:D

A preety second rate side if you ask me!!!, where are the St Bernards boys and Uni Blues boys???

I thought that there might be a couple more Hampton Rovers boys in there.
Pretty average squad, but still should have a win. I don't think its fair that there are that many players from A & B in the squad, I thought it was from C down. Aren't they good enough to make the A rep squad?
I also think that the players chosen for the initial training squad may have pulled out. These are the in form players for their team, and workload of training on Sunday and WEdnesday, with the club training on Tuesday, Thursday, and the game on Saturday may have overloaded the players. Maybe they need the week off to freshen up.

This is essentially a C - D4 rep side with a sprinkling of A & B players thrown in. Unsure of the policy behind that as it appears they're looking to reward those who don't make the A/B squads with a representative jumper, possibly at the expense of several others who are as deserving but don't play in the top grades.

All those chosen are bloody good players, and would all be comfortable A graders if they wanted to. Still, I agree it's nowhere near as good a side at the one which will play the SAAFL in 4 weeks' time.

#14 Michael Miller is a gun. Very quick midfielder who is tough as.

He came 3rd in the C Grade B&F last year & won our B&F when we were in B Grade when he was only 17.

CFE: WHo came 1st and 2nd in the C grade B&F last year? Are they in the squad????

Massis from Glen Eira won it, not sure who came 2nd, but i don't think that he's even playing for GE this year...

The reason i thought the A & B players where playing was because they missed out in the under 19 rep team last year to play DVFL as DVFL ended up pulling the team out. So was a way of rewarding players who missed the chance of playing in the Big V jumper.
Could anyone clarify this are the players from A and B young??

Nup - that's not the reasonf or A/B players playing, its been that way for the last 2 or 3 years prior.

Anyhoo - here's the side.

4 guys from A/B and pretty sure none of them were U19s last year. Cults is 26, Keefer would be 24, unsure about Playfair and Harrison.

Coach: George Voyage
Selectors: Mark Tymms (Chairman of Selectors), Steve Carroll, David Cook, Tony Gilchrist, John Keenan, Matthew Scholten

Massis is still at Glen Eira, and is playing some very good football even though th team is struggling. He didn't even get picked for the training squad which is surprising.

SFL

I went down & watched, a pretty scrappy game due to the amount of dew on the ground which made play rather slippery.

Neither team really dominated play & the VAFA had a two goal lead at half-time. SFL came out in the 3rd term & held sway, infront by about 2pts going into the last.

A pro-SFL crowd saw them wilt under pressure with the VAFA leveling scores with about 5mins to play. ORMOND'S very own Michael Miller kicked the point to put the VAFA infront, then with about 2mins to go he kicked a ripper from the boundary to end SFL's hopes. VAFA won by 7pts.

FITZROY RED'S ruckman Ronchi played very well I thought, very good player, tended to try & grab the ball out of the ruck a bit, but that was due to SFL's smaller & tubbier ruckman.

Liddell (CAULFIELD GRAMM) & Kent (OLD CAREY) also played well from what I saw.

Some SFL supporters thought that they could match the A-B VAFA squad, but they would get beaten by about 30 goals in any weather IMO. Wishful thinking indeed...

Mark Liddell and Matthew White

Hi everyone,
Just wanted to know what your thoughts where about Mark Liddell (Caulfield Grammarians) and Matthew White (MHOSB) being named as best on ground by the SFL/VAFA respectively ?

Both play in C section with thier respective clubs.
