Under Peggy and Gale the mantra has been stability first.

So far so good until we lost 3 eliminations in a row.

Has anyone stopped to consider what stability 1st means?

It's about being fiscally prudent. It's about having a plan going forward. It's about attracting investors. It's about having harmony.

I have to give it to Dan Richardson. He got heckles up but I think he called it how it was. Very anti stability on the membership/supporter front. Probably got chastised by the board.

That said once you dusted off your wounded pride, if you had one, what's not to like?

Seriously.

Given where we are now don't you get the impression the club knew all this as relayed by Dan?

Don't you think Dimma knew all this too? (I'm sorry but I saw a guy in jubilation with our draft last year)

Not trying to stir the pot because I think Dimma has gone over in giving faith and wanting return however I think even Dimma has got to the end of his tether.

Some might see it as a failure as a coach in 2016 however I see it as a coach who's protected his players, given them every opportunity and is as disappointed as anyone that faith has been betrayed.

Who didn't think players should have stood up?

If they had how would our team have looked.

I'm with Dimma and Rance. So much potential yet it frustrates.

Last weekend makes it easier for Dimma in his frustrations (although at end of year I guess he'll have some hard conversations)

He's given the encumbrances a chance. It's open the door for others to come in and for those on their way out to do so with reason.

Am I worried by Dimma's contract? No. I'm sure there are KPI's if not met will mean he goes without cost.

If what I heard is correct then I assume once current FD contracts end then we are looking to replace with the best available.

People point to Dimma's 7 years and I'll point to that again. 7 years with a straight guy and I think you can get away with ditching those who don't perform/could be traded without angst with the players going forward.

A mini rebuild without scrapping back the list. I actually think the rebuild is more behind the coach.

So keep the coach who accepts, as the Board does, he has things to learn. Rebuild the FD. Let go those who just can't play for the team/aren't of standard.

He can't keep learning on our time. It's seems all he can do is learn. As soon as the season finishes and he can't learn anymore from the opposition .. that's when we go backwards again.

Let's get some talent in the playing list and in the coaching department.

He makes the same mistakes over and over again. The CFC rd21 game then a few weeks later the 2013 EF. Port this year both games were mirror images and any coach with his wits about him would have done his homework. All the North Melbourne games have been a testosterone v oestrogen mismatch for seven years.
DH is a numpty who will continue to go down the same path expecting a different outcome. He is either stubborn or just clueless .for seven years I've been waiting for a masterstroke from him, but all we get is the standard rag dolled little boys getting pushed around by the bullies. We are a laughing stock ,

I think stability in the club WAS important, given the situations we've found ourselves in before. However, it's now time to attack. Whatever we choose to do at the end of this year, I hope it's done at 100%, whether it's to try top up and go again, or clear out and rebuild. I think it's got something to do with the fact that Benny Gale came to the club at its weakest point, and he, above anything else, doesn't want to see the club in that situation ever again. That's even now filtered down to the the game plan, with its 'safe' ball movement.

Stability in the financial sense has been achieved. However the reason for having strong off field stability is to win premierships. At the end of the day it's the boards responsibility to ensure the best available talent is employed to do that. They can't sit on their hands and not make decisions in the guise of stability.

Stability is over rated, give me a successful club teetering on a knifes edge any day over a rich boring club that never wins anything

I'm quite happy with Ben and Peggy, but maybe the board needs some refreshing. I wouldn't be throwing them all out though. They've made one big mistake, which was re-signing DH last year unnecessarily. Seriously, no-one was ever going to poach him, and he wasn't thinking about walking. I have no doubt it a lesson learnt.

On the other hand Hardwick has had seven years. His time is up. He's taking us backwards now. Full credit to him for lifting the club over the six years prior to this but his inability to win a final, stale game plan, poor player development, poor selection criteria and disastrous 2016 should spell the end for him.

When are we going to hear from club officials regarding the path forward? Its now Tuesday and we have heard nothing from the club by any senior official as to the plan going forward. The club has gone into self preservation mode. If there is a review going on as caro has said why dont the club come out and let the members know asap.

the thing is that stability has been achieved partly by the managing of the finances that have been contributed mostly by the masses of members. If they continue down the same path, that so called stability will be gone as quick as it came...lets not get to stupid and dreamy here....at the end of the day as I have said before, a game at the G is worth a mill every time and then you add all the cash from memberships and all the other shit that we spend on for this club and if the members desert then Benny will be running a bingo club..;)

All three games were mirror images, they were tougher at the ball, we didn't want to be there (players and coaches)

Another unfortunate thing that I am convinced is front and center with this board is that right now the one thing they want to justify is the extension they handed to Dimma. I mean, lets face it, its pretty much a unanimous view from, well, 99.7% of the tigerheads that I know and what is posted on here, that they should have let the year play out with the year he had left and then assesed. But the board, like just the board, thought differently to most and thought here you go Dimma we want to show stability and give you a breather from being rag dolled by the media about losing your job etc, and heres another 2 years. Not only that, they then decide to put injury clauses in, so it makes the contract even more lenient to the coach, by giving the out re, injuries etdd. Right now that desicion has been stamped as a massive failure. Like massive is an understatement, go as far as to suggest its hand in the keys, its time to change...So what does this board do? they are now doing everything in their power to justify that 2 year extension by firing everything bar the kitchen sink and the coach, and hoping like hell they unearth some star or a couple of stars with a vision and know how that can make this coach look like they made the right desicion. And that aint bad, ****ing lets hope they get it right, but unfortunately as a past great pres stated, you cant make strawberry jam out of shit Benny Boy...

The shake up needed to happen when 3-0-75 failed , but I believe they accepted this as a win. Why weren't new kpi s set? I believe they were too scared to commit to kpis and have just sunk back into sloth and mediocrity. I mean a $50mil organisation not setting goals targets kpis etc. is laughable . If you cannot identify problems or believe their isn't a problem bc of stability then mass failure is inevitable. Welcome to 2009 again.

Premierships were never a KPI, this was admitted by Discount Dan here believes that his comments were not endorsed by the board? No one came out and said that's not correct although hardwick came out and said its the best list I have had to work with.

good point Cogga can't rely on members $ and FTF revenue forever. If we get the on field part right though ie winning finals and ultimately Grand finals, then the revenue will flow in. Everybody wants to be on a winner.

Whats the hurry? Just another headline for the media.

They only talk to us when they want something.

Sorry ST Ive lost your signal as did we play Port 3x?
Yes. Similar things happened in the three games which were played on three different grounds: Etihad Stadium, the MCG and Adelaide Oval.

NAB Challenge it was 93-45, at the MCG it was 94-59 and at Adelaide Oval it was 94-56.

Last year too, North Melbourne defeated us on three different grounds. Etihad Stadium in the preseason, Hobart in the season and at the MCG in the Elimination Final.

People complain about some of our players struggling to break a tag. How about the struggle we seem to undergo when counteracting the strategy of an opposition coach that has our measure. You'd think we could at least try something new on a different ground to change things up and gain the upper hand but nope.
