the talent thing is well overrated. Tmac has 2 pretty good PF's at his disposal. He has a "point guard" who cant run an offense and at best is a backup, shooting point guard. The SF/SG position is with Stevenson at the moment, 4th ? year in the system and hasnt proved he is worth anything yet. Decent enuf though. At center, well depending on the day you could have, DeClerc, Hunter or Zaza doing their best to show that at this point in time they are not good enough for this league, and coaches who have no idea what they are doing.

Bottom line is it's just as much how your teammates respond to you as a leader.

this is your best argument, McGrady prolly isnt a leader yet, but it is hard to lead guys when u are so unhappy in life.

What does he have to be unhappy about? He left Toronto to get out of Vince's spotlight and for the big money, he's getting paid ungodly amounts a year and he's a celebrity of mammoth proportions. Surely it isn't that hard to motivate yourself.

Try 7 deaths in the 7 years he has played pro ball. He isnt happy in a personal life, and when your teammates know this it is going to be hard to motivate them properly.

The only time he is truly happy is when he is with kids.

I don't buy that, sorry. Sure I feel sorry for the guy, that's a bad run of luck, but that's not an excuse for being a bad leader when you're playing pro sports and earning too much money than you know what you can do with. Iverson has had his off court troubles in the past, but he manages to stay focused every game. I know that sounds like a harsh view, but I don't buy the line that being unhappy in his personal life is an excuse for not being able to motivate your teammates and be a good leader. If he's not fit to play, then he shouldn't be playing, but if he's out there, he should do whatever it takes for his team to win.

I hope he proves my views on him as a leader wrong, because he is too talented not to be one of the best players the league has seen. If he is not happy playing basketball then he shouldn't be out there. Comments about retiring in the media and stuff like that are only going to have a negative effect o n the team.

yeah my sentence came out a bit screwed. What I was meant to say was that I think it would be hard for the other players to look to him as such, knowing that he is constantly unhappy. In my opinion he has to get himself happy first, then work on being a leader, cos so far in his career he hasnt been the leader of the team, in a true sense.

I agree with that. He shouldn't be on the court unless he is 100% focused on basketball and the Orlando Magic, and his teammates need to be confident this is the case.

He gets all the shots he wants in Orlando, and he pretty much has free reign to do whatever the hell he wants.

That's a good thing! He is easily the best offensive weapon in the league today so why not give him free reign on offence. That's what most great players usually get. MJ had it, some plays back in the day for MJ were get him the ball and get out of the way!

And still im the only person to actually congratulate T-Mac on a great game, something for the record books. Only the 17th player in history I think to score over 60 points in a game. Had anyone else scored that much, everyone would be talking about it but because it's T-Mac everyone would rather talk about his leadership??

HE DROPPED 62!!
