Tommorrow: Clarence v South Launceston at Bellerive, Lauderdale v Hobart at Lauderdale, North Launceston v Glenorchy at Aurora Stadium 4pm, Launceston v North Hobart at Aurora Stadium 6:30pm. Sunday: Devonport v Burnie at Devonport

Round 10 sees 4 games that can potentially go either way with Lauderdale slight favourites against Hobart, especially after the Tigers horror show against Burnie at West Park while Lauderdale were competitive for three quarters before failing against North Hobart. North Launceston are big underdogs against Glenorchy after the Bombers produced one of their worst efforts in a long time, trounced by Launceston. Launceston will go into the night game against the Demons as hot favourites especially after their strong showing last week while Burnie should account for Devonport in the coastal derby on Sunday. Clarence play South Launceston in the other game of Round 10 and despite South's upset win against Devonport I can't see the Bulldogs producing two upsets here against the Roos.

Tips: Clarence by 75, Lauderdale by 25, Glenorchy by 50, Launceston by 60, Burnie by 35

In today's ABC1 match Clarence easily defeated the Bulldogs at a near empty Bellerive Oval, looked to be no more than 300 there.
Dutton throwing a scare into the Roos camp in the 2nd quarter appearing to injure his knee badly again, but returned to the field and booted three in the third quarter for them.

In the match at Lauderdale, Hobart threw it away with some woeful kicking in front of about 600 people.
In a direct opposite of their previous meeting down there where the Tigers pinched it, Hobart spent most of the last 6 or 7 minutes deep in their forward line but couldn't kick straight or create any sort of system to get the scores ticking over.
Of interest was a double goal just before the three quarter time hooter to the Bombers where they kicked a goal and were then awarded another soft free kick right in front, going from six points down to six points up.
Thought it might be crucial at the time and it was.
Bombers were happy at finally getting a TSL win on their home ground, Hobart have a fair few problems with injuries, illness and a chronic lack of experience to work through in the coming weeks with a trip to Snug next Sunday against the Roos waiting for them.

The curtain raiser in the gala day at Aurora Stadium saw Glenorchy continue on their winning way flogging the Northern Bombers by 86-points continuing North's poor form of late.
In the match under lights, North Hobart with a terrific second quarter lead Launceston by four goals at half time.

I think there is a line I could use and alter from an Enimem song: "Will the real Launceston Blues please stand up, please stand up, please stand up!" ;)
Yeah exactly.
I never really rated Norf' all that much and it looked like Lonnie were starting to get back into the swing of things in the past few matches culminating in that walloping of North Lonnie last week.
Then a result like that pops up

Then again, I said the same thing watching my mob today.
Even though they had a few out, couldn't fathom how they could pot 14 through in a half one week, play extremely fluent football and beat a very good football side with some disgraceful umpiring against them in the last quarter the next then put in displays like today.
Last week, Burnie were just too big, strong and experienced and that loss wasn't a surprise (margin was though) but today was hugely disappointing.
Having said that, we really should've won that game and quite comfortably but our forward movements were ordinary all day and it cost us.
Lauderdale should've walloped us last time down there and lost in the exact same scenario.

Funny game football.

Nth Hobart.... gee wizz. Very, very good win.

Lauderdale over Hobart.... Did Cassidy play? By far their best player but didn't fire today.

Clarence are the sleeping giants. Poor last week but they looked like they structured up a bit differently according to ABC tv coverage. South couldn't score against them.

Dev vs Burnie a ripper. Shack out apparently (finger for about 4 weeks according to the bloke at the Highway Halt Sulphur Creek store) Jesse Wells vs Reynolds should be a good battle.

Nthn Bombers smashed. Glenorchy stringing them together and could go 3-peat

A good footy day/night at Aurora yesterday. Tassie looked good in belting a disapointing Qld u18's. Glenorchy also looked good, a dominant midfield & forward targets gave them the win. Bombers didn't offer an awful lot & desperatley need to find help for Crawford who looks a class act. Jeez what a turn up in the last match. Blues started well enough but then stopped like they wuz shot. North Hobart were good. I wonder which Demon will turn up next week?

AFL Tasmania and Clarence Football Club are investigating an incident in which a player exposed himself during an ABC broadcast of a TSL game.

Reserves player Tim Orchard was in the background as senior player Ben Setchell was being interviewed in the changerooms after Clarence's win over South Launceston at Bellerive Oval when he exposed his penis during the live coverage.
Orchard was fully clothed in his club jacket and pants at the time.

An embarrassed and angry Clarence president Richard Mulligan said the player would front a sub-committee today.
If found guilty of a breach of player conduct, a penalty recommendation would be made to the board.
"We unreservedly apologise for any offence that may have been occasioned by the inappropriate action of the player concerned," Mr Mulligan said.
"Certainly we consider it a very serious matter, one which goes to the very essence of the credibility and the public image of our footy club, and we'll take action accordingly.
"As the president of the football club I view the matter very seriously and am extremely disappointed and angry at what happened."
AFL Tasmania general manager Scott Wade said he was aware of the incident.
He said AFL Tasmania business operations manager Trent Bartlett and the TSL's southern regional manager Wayne Povey viewed the footage last night but would not make a comment until today.
He said Orchard could be charged with behaviour detrimental to the image of the game, as well as facing a penalty from his club.

ABC sport director Greg Simpson said the discipline of players was a league matter.

June 21st 2009: Tigers Coach Vents Fury
By Brett Stubbs - Link

With his team trailing Lauderdale by a goal, Hobart coach Todd Lewis told his players they had 25 minutes to save their season.

But instead of breathing new life into it, the Tigers let their TSL year flatline yesterday as they butchered chances in front of goal.
The lead changed four times in the final stanza as the tenacious young Bombers held on grimly by three points, 13.9 (87) to 11.18 (84).
Hobart missed from two set-shot opportunities in the dying minutes - Patrick Bass and Luke Sullivan could have regained the lead but both missed.

However, Lewis didn't after the match.
"They squandered chances - (Michael) Cassidy, Sullivan, Bass, (Andrew) Lemm, all inside 30m," Lewis said.
"If you don't kick goals, you don't win games. If you can't kick goals 30m out in senior football in the state league, you shouldn't be playing. We had a number of them today.
"We have just got selfish footballers and they (Lauderdale) play like a team. We didn't and never do.
"We've had the same problems for 18 months. The club itself off-field has done a tremendous job of attracting trainers and fitness staff and the clubrooms are going ahead.
"The club hasn't let the players down, the players have let the club down."
Both sides have only three wins after 10 games, making it very hard for either to play in the finals.
But for Bombers coach Cam de Gooyer, there were plenty of promising signs.
After struggling the previous week as a forward, Kane Richter returned to defence and kept fellow state player and Hobart big man Cassidy goalless.

"Cassidy's a quality player but so is Kane Richter and Kane showed his true colours for us today," de Gooyer said.
"He's played forward for us in the past but today, when we needed a job down back, he did a fantastic job for us."
Onballer Alex Hevey also returned to his best, and although Hobart had the better structure, Lauderdale was able to manufacture goals through the likes of Justin Marriott (four goals) and Adam Joyce (three).
Marriott was instrumental, using his short but strong, stocky frame to kick two last-quarter goals, including what turned out to the final goal of the match to regain the lead.
Bass looked like tearing the game apart at any stage for Hobart, with his two strong goal-square pack marks among the second-quarter highlights.

Footballer suspended for flashing on TV
A Tasmanian AFL player has been suspended for indecently exposing himself on live television.
Clarence player Tim Orchard has also been ordered to have professional counselling and undertake community work.
The incident happened in the change rooms during Saturday's ABC telecast of the match between Clarence and South Launceston.
Orchard was wearing his club jacket and trousers at the time.
Clarence president Richard Mulligan says football officials met tonight and determined the incident was a serious breach of the player code of conduct.
"Tim Orchard will be suspended indefinitely and won't play in any home and away or finals games for the 2009 football season," he said.
"We'll make a decision at the end of the season as to whether he continues at the club or not."
Earlier, Orchard apologised for the stunt.
"I've embarrassed myself, the club, the supporters, the sponsors and everyone associated with the club," he said.

There's an easy solution to things like the flashing happening. Do the interviews in front of a sign with the club logo and/or sponsors on it, like is done in the AFL. If the ABC won't show sponsors, just have a big club logo. Then there's no chance of players on the way to/from the showers also making it on the TV.

Exactly, like when the VFL was broadcast down here they used to unfurl those banners behind the player being interviewed with TXU Energy or whatever.
Bit of a harsh penalty for getting his tockleys out in the background, was an immature schoolboy lark that wasn't the best thing to be doing given the way football is battling for its life here right now in struggling for crowds and sponsorships, but I'm sure given his time over again he wouldn't have done it.
I still reckon the incident where they hired a rescue chopper to piss in the middle of York Park back in 2000 after the grand final was a lot worse.

How is little Todd Lewis going with Hobart this year? Will he be coaching there next year or will the club and him decide to part ways???
