Hundreds of footballers have threatened legal action against the data collection industry, which could change how information is handled.

Led by former Cardiff City, Leyton Orient and Yeovil Town manager Russell Slade, 850 players want compensation for the trading of their performance data over the past six years.

I had a look at our AFLW team from Rounds 1-6 so far this year to see how the stats might highlight our deficiencies.

Some surprises here in that we are 3rd for disposals and marks, 4th for hitouts and 7th for inside 50s.

We are stone deal last for tackles and way down for contested possessions and clearances.

This definitely highlights our lack of pace IMO. Perhaps we have our slower mids getting hands on the ball but not distributing well for the clearance or our inside/out players who sit outside of Prespakis or McKay are just not quick enough or smart enough to get the ball out, let alone find a target.

The second chart shows our position in each of the key stats vs our oppositions position after Round 6 (5-7 games depending on Covid affected matches). What it doesn't show and which could be added is how many inside 50s we give away, and where we sit on that score.

Anyway, make of it what you will.

It's hard to get the ball out when the first receiver fumbles.
