Oh what a lovely mature retort, u give us Cat fans such a knowledgable and well-spoken reputation...

Having played at a fairly high level locally for over 10 years, i tend to think that i know a little bit about footy, although i dont claim to be an absolute expert. But given that majority of replies on this thread support me, and the FACT that these players (Enright, Tenace, Varcoe) are being continuously given a game by the match committee (so they dont have a ****** clue either?) in the best team in the land currently, I cant see many holes in my argument...

P.S. This was a reply to Tin Can Sams outburst, which has since been deleted quite rightly...:D

Sorry about the last post I made, I have no idea what it said.

The point I was probably trying to make is.

You say stats don't lie, in the fact that low possesion games can still be good games, which I agree with, but the reason people are calling for Enright to be dropped (me included) is that he absolutely butchers the ball, and he is an outside player, so his dispossal and pace needs to be very good.

I don't think he offers much to our side, because of his poor disposal and lack of pace. Enright will always find the ball, but he keeps turning it over.

Why does he get a game each week then?
He must be doing something right...

Joel COrey does the exact same thing, should he be dropped too? Has Enright had a bag kicked on him this year??Maybe we should alert Bomber of your concerns, he and the match committee must not be aware of these deficiencies if they keep playing him...

Another interesting thing with statistics is that different statisticians come up with different figures on the same game. For example, the Herald-Sun, who uses statistics from Champion Data, said Cameron Ling took four marks yesterday, 3 of which were contested. According to the Age however, which uses pro-stats, Ling only took 3 marks, 1 of which was contested. The Age said we laid 130 tackles yesterday, the Herald-Sun said we laid 111. So who are we to believe?
Like Martyk and Chappymagic, one will be right one week, the other the next.

Champion Data are the "official" statisticians of the AFL, so stick to those figures when arguing as they'll be the ones entered into the record books. The generous folk over at Pro-stats always add a few more possessions and tackles than CD, but this is probably due to differences in statistical interpretation and is not a reflection on either's recording ability.

The totals in the Age include missed tackles as well as effective tackles, whereas Champion Data only count effective tackles.
