Stereo help needed!

I wasn't sure if I am posting this on the right forum but it seems to fit best here. Just looking for a bit of advice!

My sister has a 5 year old (or so) Kenwood stereo, and the CD player component of it has stopped working. It used to skip entire CDs and stuff (it's a 3-disc unit) then just stopped working!

What I am wondering is has anyone had a similar problem with their stereo, and how much did it cost to repair? If it's going to cost a fortune she'll just replace the stereo completely, so is it worth even trying to get it fixed?

If it's 5 years old and Kenwood, it's not worth repairing. Tell her to buy a new one.

Yeah that's what I told her......she's still undecided though. The reason I think it's not worth saving is my Mum has a similar model, about the same age, and it too has had little things go wrong on it.......but I guess it's her money in the end isn't it.

I bought a stereo system a few years back with a carousel cd player (sounds like what you've described). It also stopped working suddenly. Turns out the board burned out (a few months after the warranty expired, of course). After getting a few quotes, I found it just wasn't worth the $$ to get it repaired. Tell her to buy a standalone cd player (if they still sell them), or just use her dvd player as a cd player.
