I started off a little sceptical but I actually think he's just saying what a lot of St Kilda supporters have been sprouting on talkback radio. Besides, the "Harvey Norman - no interest for twelve months" call was a pisser.

I hear he's on sen at 10am this sunday.... should be interesting to hear what talkback callers have to say to HIM.

He's a flipping comedian.

I think that Rod Butters comments this week were probably uncalled for, but the bloke and his board have taken the club out of a massive financial hole, given us respectability over the past five years, and are negotiating with the local council to deliver first class facilities (and if these fall through, we've got other councils begging for the club to relocate).

He understands how the media works (and thats why I think he made his comments this week), and he has genuine respect from other club leaders. Cant always say we've had this.

Steve Bedwell's comments are what we expect from a disgruntled Richmond fan.

Bedders - if you really love the club, and you've got a beef - do you think that the best way to address it is by running up and down media street ?

What is that going to do for the credibility of the club ?

Wait til the end of the year, and say your piece then.

Butterss' personal vendettas are getting very tiresome. I hope Bedwell overthrows him and his clan on the board. But in saying that, I do hope it's left until the end of the season.

Cannot agree more.

Rod has done wonders for the club and credit to him. I feel he has lost the plot in the last year or so, this week topped it off. He has been at the club long enough. Im sure im not the only person who feels the same way.

As an outsider looking in on you guys...I would like to see what Lindsay Fox has to say and will do in light of all this drama, before voting in a comedian, who obviously is passionate about his club, BUT you need business nouse to run a club..hence Lindsay Fox's input....hope it gets settled soon Saints, you have an exciting team, and Rob Harvey deserves better....My opinion...Butterss was out of line...did more harm than good....Good Luck

Point 1: How is it any different to Butterss running up and down media street to bag Thomas. At least Bedders has the club at heart:confused:

Point 2: Lindsay Fox has said he will have involvment, but not as president. What better front man to have than a guy like Bedwell. He has presence. Fox makes the decisions, Bedwell announces them. Personally I love it.:thumbsu:

I agree - Bedders should wait until the end of the year.

The last thing the club needs at the moment more de-stablising, more time in the media spotlight (for the wrong reasons) and more in-fighting.

RB, the board and all the other staff need to shutup as far as the media goes, and let RL and the team focus on getting the job done on-field.

I'm with Saintsownthedome - he's a comedian! Hardly credibility central.

Butterss' big problem is that he occasionally talks too much - that's really been his only crime the last week or so. And with all the kerfuffle about it, I think he'll pull his head in and get back to doing what he does well - organising personell who will get us over 30000 members (maybe 40000 next year?), for one thing.

Have any of you looked at the type of people of AFL club boards these days? They are all very serious, talented (in a business/professional manner) people. Bedwell is about as serious as Rodney Rude, only not as funny. That Harvey Norman gag is older than God.

Time for all Sainters to close ranks , STFU and wait for the dust to settle. If Bedwell wants to challenge the board, the AGM is the correct vehicle to do so.

Right comment, wrong guy, wrong day.

You must have refreshed - thats all.

No great conspiracy theory can be confirmed, but agents Mulder and Scully of the FBI have been assigned the case. I have some (compromised) evidence to suggest that there was an extraterrestial connection to the dissappearance (and subsequent reappearance) of your most sensitive post. Some cigarette butts were found and a DNA analysis is being performed on the dried saliva. There were also some fingerprints on a computer keyboard found in suburban Melbourne. These were impounded. We are awaiting further word from the authorities and will get back to you when there is something concrete to give you.

Haha..thankyou my dear StKildonan...now you are talking gobblidy gook..i am a complete nerd when it comes to 'puters..what the hell is "refreshed"? please enlighten me into the 21st century!!

So, anyway. Back to this Bedwell bloke. I've never heard of him, but he claims he's been a passionate Saints fan since he moved to Melbourne in 1993. That's entirely post-Moorabbin. The bloke has never stood on the terraces at Moorabbin and watched his team get belted by mediocre sides. He's never watched Winmar to Plugger at the grandstand end; never saw Trevor Barker play; probably doesn't know about Lindsay Fox's five year plan; never groaned watching Damien Kitschke or Gordon Fode; probably doesn't know that Brett Bowie was the bloke who debuted on the same day as Bobby Harvey; and probably doesn't have a clue what happened at Moorabbin in round 2, 1989.

Does that matter? Yeah, it F##king does. It matters most of all because - before he arrived on the scene - we used to be that club with constant board coups, infighting and backstabbing. If he thinks what is happening now at Moorabbin is turmoil, it just proves that he doesn't know about our history. Butterss and co. are still dealing with our culture and slowly weeding it out - this process started with Plympton and is continuing. Getting rid of the old warhorse Thomas (who was part of that bad old past) and putting in place a modern footy department was another step along the way.

A board coup at this stage of our history would be disastrous. Nothing short of disastrous. Only rabbles allow board coups.

This bloke's performance on MMM on Monday afternoon was abysmal. Had everyone confused.

In one breath he was saying yesterday's performance was a good thing for someone looking to cause a boardroom spill and in the next minute he was saying boardroom machinations have no correlation with onfield performance. Contradicted himself about five times and had Lyon and the Dribble M team confused (not a tough ask, granted).

I'd be happy sticking with a president who has delivered massive profits and a huge upturn in members if I was a Saints man.

Love Gordon Fode. Kicked 5.9 against the Cats didnt he ? Not bad for a backman with the biggest calves in football history.

Butterss has actually done a good job at the club. As people have mentioned, you need good business sense to run a football club (these days anyways) You would expect everyone who holds a board role would be passionate about the club. Not sold on Bedwell
