Does anyone know how Steven King is coming along?
When will he be playing in the two's again?
I still think he'll be more than handy IF he can get back to full fitness and form.
Note I said if...

Kingy is at least 1 week away from the two's, they say he's stepped up in his training but still isnt ready for a game

I still believe Kingy can help us.

Sure up our ruck depth

dont think Blake wil keep us his good form throughout the whole season, so having Stevie come in as a big athletic body will help no end.

Wouldnt want him pushing Blake out after everything Marks done for us this season, As long as Kingy spends a fair amount of time in the twos and proves himself well and truely before he is even considered for a spot. and then you would want Mark to drop off dramaticly.
Kingy is a big part of our team , but Blake is a big part of wear we are now.

King should only play if Ottens or Blake are injured or he shows with 4 or 5 very strong games in the magoos that he is willing to jump at ruck contests.

Too few people seem to link Geelongs improvement this year in the midfield with the dramatic improvement in the ruck. I see no reason Blake won't hold form. In fact it is more likely his form will improve as he gets more experience. He might even kick a goal.

For mine King is for the trade table. a number of clubs would like a big strong ruckmen who has had a years rest and corrective surgery on a two year contract.

Now that's just crazy talk!

In the unlikely event that Blake ever does kick a goal, I hope I'm there. Something to tell the grand kids when they ask what grandpa did with his life.

'Well, sonny Jim, I once saw Mark Blake kick a saussage roll. He was five meters out, directly in front. He barely made the distance, and I swear it grazed the inside of the post, but it was paid. Now get me some whiskey, ya little brats.'

I think bomber knows that he can't drop either blake or Ottens for King to come into the team. He was quoted as saying earlier this year that there is room for all 3 of them in our best 22. I honestly struggle to see that happening, while keeping a healthy team balance.

He will be a handy backup if fully fit and either of the ruckmen go down with a injury or we need to put Ottens forward for a game or two. Otherwise he should at the very least try and absolutely dominate in the 2's

he doesnt put in the hard yards like he used to, even if this is because of the state of his body its bad luck really, blake is growing into an all around ground player but for king things as i see it are only downhill. also does anyone know ho w trent west is going, or even if he is still playing i dont know?

On Fox before or during the last game (I think), Gerard Healy commented on how impressed he was with the Geelong youngsters in the VFL match played as the curtain raiser. He singled Trent West for a special mention. He was most impressed with the kid. Must be going OK.

I thought he gave a mention to "Travis West" :)

West apparently moves well (engine and agility) and has stepped up a bit this year as the #1 VFL ruckman while kingy is out. But realistically he is still v.young for a ruckman and is probably a couple of years away. I hope he and blake will make an excellent combination in 5 years time. That said Blake is still young for a ruckman and if he keeps improving at the rate he has since last year then we have a lot to look forward to in him.
