His year so far:

40 disposals 13.33 per game
14 marks 4.66 per game
94 hitouts 31.33 per game

2 Frees For
10 Frees Against

Tried his guts out every game so far, but he just has no real support from his on-ballers. I suspect his frees against tally is so high because he's changed the way he rucks so that he can last the whole game.

It's disappointing, but unfortunately, there's no other effective alternative. Street is not up to it, Chambers gets thrown around like a rag doll and Playfair hasn't been tried yet. Buggered if I know what to do.

Well firstly we don't need another ruckman as we only need another player to ruck for say 15-25 mins. Without hurting the structure in the forward line or back. If Mooney rucks not target if Graham rucks no backman.

bring in Woolnough a guy that can play in the ruck a while and is handy down back and up forward. 195cm tall i think i saw him ruck last year wasn't bad.

I actually think that the AFL's rule changes have played a large part in Steven's frees against tally.

Big ruckman who use their strength in contests are horribly disadvantaged by these changes, thus Steven gets penalised whenever he uses his strength to outbody an opponent.

You watch next weekend, Steven will get pinged 4-5 times whilst dominating Jeff White.

Basketball here we come.

Matthew Primus was suffering from exactly the same thing the other night in Port's match against Hawthorn.

I think Geelong's match committee have been very unfair on Steven King, asking him to ruck against 2 and 3 opponents for the whole game. I can't think of any other AFL side that does this... we just can't afford to continue asking King to ruck all day as he'll be stuffed before round 10.

Playfair would be better. He also plays in defense as well as ruck, but he's fit, unlike Woolnough.

Agreed.

As sad as it is, Woolly is finished. There is no future in playing him.

Henry might turn out to be a dud, but we at least need to give him a chance, before its too late.

I would have to agree with you there.

Unfortunately, the knee injuries have taken away that much needed yard of pace he needed to succeed at the top level.

I hope he proves me wrong though as he tries his heart out in the VFL.

How could we possibly hurt a forward line that does nothing?

32 goals in 3 games when the grounds are at their best is hardly inspiring, I think we can defintely tinker with that a bit.

While I accept that Scarlett v Tarrant was a bad matchup for us, and Scarlett should have been swapped off Tarrant early, Scarlett is playing like a busted arse at the moment. I think he read a bit too much of his own media last year and let it get to him, because I would say if Harley is fit he is bordering on being dropped.

I thought King was pretty hard done by on Saturday by the umpires. Some of the frees were just bewildering. Mind you, the umpriing all round on Saturday, for both teams was shocking.

Playfair must get a game. He can be used either in the ruck or up forward which would enable the two to be rotated regularly throughout a game, allowing Kingy to conserved his energy for a big last quarter.

Even Playfair having 5 minutes a qtr would be better than running King into the ground.

One of street , chambers or playfair have to be given a game this week. Even if just to let king give us something reasonable in the forward line for a while.
As for jub jubs sign off, if we are going to go for the number 1 draft pick in 2003 why not do it properly , win less than 5 games and get the first and second picks! Or is that being a little too negative.

I'll wait a few weeks before deciding to add the 2nd draft pick to my sig. :p

I agree there. Just giving King little breaks will enable him to ruck longer into the season. And especially in the latter parts when it's needed most!
