Can some one please explain how John**** did not get a Rising Star Nomination last year in his first season. All I can say is amazing, given last weeks nomination of Richard Cole (Collingwood) when a player in his first game kicks 5.2 (McGrath of Richmond) and doesn't nominated. Bizzare!!!!!

The Johncock oversight was amazing last year. Looking at last year's nominees, he's as good or better than all of them except Judd (who should've won it) and Riewoldt.

I remember getting the showpiece letter in Fans Forum in the Advertiser back in 1999 when I argued vehemently that Burton should win the Norwich Rising Star over Adam Goodes - the argument being that Burton had just as much impact as the Swan that year, and Goodes missed the last portion of the season through injury anyway.

I said then and I say now, it reminded me of when Michael Sexton somehow got AA CHB over Peter Caven in 1997, despite Carlton being f**king awful, TOA putting Sexton out for the last 6 weeks of the season, and Adelaide had the best defence in the league.

Adelaide players get flat out ignored for individual awards.

I'm not surprised Stiffy missed out and I'm not surprised that the Richmond kid missed out to.

At the start of the season, they put every kid's name into a hat. Then in Round 1, they pull a name out. Round 2, pull another name out. Repeat until Round 22.

... and dyertribe, that 97 decision was a disgrace. Unfortunately they often pick AA players based on reputation, not performance.

Who really cares

He wouldn't have won it so it doesn't matter.

The worst all Australian decision ever was to pick Heuskes over McLeod in 97 on the half back line

Disgraceful.

I wasn't surprised Stiffy didn't get a nomination last year. There were a lot of games when he wasn't on the ground for long. It seemed to me that Gary was almost deliberately not letting him play long enough to have an influence on the game.

I made a point of taking note of this, as I expected him to get a nomination, because of the wraps on him at the start of the year.

That whole year was a sham...

Statistically we had the best defence in the league - despite playing a running game where the likes of Macca, Cavo and Benny would regularly stream off halfback to supply Mods or go for the big shticks themselves - and we finished fourth, yet there was no room for any of our defenders that year.

Silvagni and Sexton??!!! FFS!!! They conceded 300 more points than we did and finished 11th but they nail down both KPs down back?
