Its time to go down the route of St Kilda a few years ago and draft the best kids....look at their list of Dal santo, Goddard, ball, Mcguire etc....thats a core of a bloody good side. these blokes were all drafted and moulded....ground up, no half measures or short cuts. Time to do the business properly!!!

Still gotta try and get something for your dead wood mate. A crap player and a really late pick for a early pick will be a great result for our players that are doing nothing and need to go. I agree with keeping all the early picks. As a football club I think we worked so hard on our turn overs and ability to throw away 3 quarter time leads to even contemplate giving away our early picks. It would be a dis service to all our players that worked so hard (especially early in the year) to lose what looked like winable games.

Yeah and look at all their cups.................they have been compettive but arnt getting the chocolates.

We need to grow our own (smoke it), and trade judiciously, but more importantly we must be ruthless

wanna add the fact they topped up with players like hammill, Gherig, powell and a few more besides which i cant recall off the top of my head.

You have to go to all the shops if you want to get best bang for your buck. Draft, trade, PSD, rookie list. Have to use the whole lot.

You don't go into Maccas with a $50 note and insist you want the McHappy meal with no change. Similarly you don't keep a draft pick and ignore the change to get more value by doing a trade to pick up a Polak.

Treat every pick, player as currency and get the maximum value you can from them.

!

You idiot, Of course we use the first pick in the PSD!!! I'm saying no trading our draft picks away......

your an idiot, we should trade all our draft picks and get ben hart ffs, he will fix all our problems!!!!!! has anyone seen him in the SANFL ****, he kicked his second goalfor the SANFL in last weeks final and i'm telling you this will be the turning point in his career!!!!!!

Go ben HARt!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! a true tiger in tigers boxers FFS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Bit harsh calling Camo an idiot....although he might be used to it sometimes in Supercoach:eek::p

I am sure he meant trading picks for players, do a St.Kilda, or maybe even a Geelong and grab your Chapmans, Dal Santos, Lings and Montagnas to build a powerful midfield. Try and go all out to see what development you can achieve with the highly rated J.O.N and Meyer. Impress on them in pre-season that you must do what it takes to become an AFL footballer, and that failure this season coming up will spell an end to the life as an AFL player. Maybe they will get the head down, bum up and produce resuslts that help the Tigers in '08 and beyond.

Fair enough.

Btw its easier said than done to "draft the best kids". Off-topic, but you mention Goddard, he is a good example of sticking by a low draft pick and allowing him to find his feet etc.. Tambling deserves the same patience.

I think its pretty clear now that TW is going with the concept of drafting talent rather than buying it (unless it costs us virtually nothing in terms of price and draft pick and is worth a punt - IE Kingsley)

chalk and cheese. Another classic example of a charlatan that etched out a career in a mediocre side, who was shown up when that side upped the ante and lifted itself out of mediocrity. Like clockwork these types of "stars" invariably look to leap back into mediocrity, in order to add another year or 2 to their career length. ;)

This is what I am thinking as well.

The Tigers have drafted young guns for the past three years, these guys will start really improving when they get 50+ games into them.

With the Judd issue stiring up the trade pot the club who gets him most likely would need to give up a top player top get a low draft pick, surely the Tigers would put pick 2 out there and see what is offered?

Frazer and Didak for #2 would be fair.

Brock McLean + something

Fevola

At the end of the day see what's out there and if it fits grab it.
